What Civ game for a dummie

The OP mentioned they were worried Civ might be a bit complicated though, in which case I'm not sure EU4 is the best place to start.

It took me years to get to grips and understanding of the EU series, I agree , its not something I would be recommending someone to jump into if they have concerns that Civ is too complicated. The depth of EU means that going straight for EU will put many people off the genre forever! A far better route to the EU games is to actually play the Civ titles for a bit, see if you have a liking for large scale strategy and then progress onto the EU titles.

EU4 is a doodle compared to CK2 :D
Thats why i said to do the Demo tutorials to find it is ok for him.

I find learning the ropes easier with examples so just watched a few YouTube videos as like the OP I always wanted to get into civ. I can recommend quill18, very good at explaining the mechanics and entertaining without being over the top.

Maybe I should try EU4, I gave CK2 a try some time ago and gave up. I'm really only up for a game I can learn with in game tutorials, maybe I'm lazy but I'm not up for watching YouTube videos just to learn how to play a game.

The tutorials is all you need, with EU4 to play it superficially like a CIV game :D
