What controller for a PC?

Well I'll tell you why for some people they do a better job....

Wireless keyboards.

Ever tried to game on one of those? For those of us who like wireless for day to day stuff, and that don't want to have two keyboards sitting on their desk, these things are perfect. I've got the Belkin one.

Logitech illuminated keyboard
MX518 Mouse
XBOX 360 wireless joypad

Ready to take on any game :D
 
I picked up a 3rd party Xbox controller which works just fine on the PC and cost about £6.

I have tried playing the odd game with it but unless it's a driving game then I can't seem to get on with it. Are there people out there who have switched from using a keyboard and mouse to a pad without problems? I can understand console gamers wanting to play with a pad on the PC but not the other way around. I've used nothing but keyboard and mouse for 10 years so maybe it's too late to learn a new system.
 
I can vouch for the logitech cordless rumblepad 2.

It doesnt have instant setup in every game, but if you would prefer something thats nearly identical to the playstation analogue controller, then its full of win.

It is quite a heavy device though, I sort of have it resting in my lap when Im using it.

Oh and it didnt work off the bat in batman arkham asylum, the look controls were reversed but a simple google revealed a fix.

Of course not. I was referring to those add on mini keypad things that he listed.

As far as joypads, then yes, a 360 pad is essential really.

Ok, completed BFBC2 using the keyboard - no problems, swapped WASD for EWDF - much more comfortable, Q for run and mouse button for crouch, mouse wheel for selecting weapons. All is good.

So, onto COD MW - lots more buttons to learn, looks like a nightmare :)
 
I use a Sony PS2 Dualshock 2 with a usb converter & map it for my games using Pinnacle Profiler.

Any seldom-used buttons get mapped to the keyboard.
 
Being the owner of a n52te and using it mainly for FPS games I'd say only get one if you get discomfort from using a keyboard (broke my left wrist as a nipper and hasn't ever been right since).

The dpad/joy stick is useless for movement and you'll get battered if you try to use this method as half the time it's hard to move backwards when you want/need to.

Asides from the comfort factor it holds very little advantages over a keyboard but I must say for me it's perfect.

A 360 pad is great from pretty much all 3rd person, driving and sports games.
 
Literally any game I have ever felt the need to use my 360 pad with has detected it, switched all the menus to the appropriate buttons and bobs your uncle..
