What CPU cooler to cool in this tight space ?

Gutted it doest fit just tried to instal today, have ordered the Notucha D-14 or what ever its called instead

Oh dear. Listen to the advice you've been given in this thread and stop wasting your money on huge coolers that simply never would fit in such a small space.

This thread has fail written all over it.

Modding usually means to change something to make something work and not just buy something else almost identical in size and trying to fit it with a shoe horn or something.

I have ordered the silver arrow with some modding I recon I might get it in there :)

Lol, ive built a PC in that case. You are not going to get that cooler in there period.

All in one water coolers in front or modded to fit in rear. Scythe mini ninja, hiper and noctua smaller units will fit.

edit: D-14, this guys taking the ****

Just get the Antec 620 and it will save you a lot of problems. I have the H50 in the same case and for tight spaces like these it works brilliant.

well, now you see why we were all saying it wasnt going to fit. i really dont know why you ordered it after we said it wouldnt fit
*sigh*

if you want it to fit, your going to need to have the PSU running outside the case, or below the hard drive cages. either one shouldnt be too hard a mod to do if you are competent with design work and metal work.

there are a couple of solutions that come to mind:
- mounting the PSU with the fan facing upwards, the kettle cable (lead with a plug on the end) facing towards the case fans, and the computer power leads facing towards the mobo. you will probably need a replacement kettle cable which has a flattened connection to the PSU (i know you can get these because my TV has one)
- if the power leads are bendy enough and long enough, you could do the method above, but with the kettle cable on the side furthest from the fans, and the power cables on the side furthest from the motherboard
- mount the PSU with the fan over the intake and the kettle cable pointing towards the bottom of the case. again a flattened kettle cable would probably be needed

if its possible, i think method two would be easiest, but i have very little experience with metalwork

*edit*
i'm not sure of the width of the holes in this, but looks like a fantastic way of passing the kettle cable out of the case:
PCIe slot cover with holes

you will need to remove the plug from the lead and rewire it once its passed through the PCIe cover, but hey, if you cant rewire a plug then you sure arent going to be doing this case mod

*2nd edit*
a better way would be to make a semi circular cut in the edge (or corner) of the PSU cover (that you will need to make to plug up the massive hole in the case). this would stop you from needing to rewire the plug as you could slip the wire in the hole and then screw the PSU cover on. for neatness, its probably best to put the hole in the bottom corner of the cover

Notchua D-14 didnt fit, have just ordered the BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro if that doest fit will use the standard cooler that came with my CPU

3rd time lucky

:)

What you doing with the coolers you've bought? Returning them to OCUK?

Dimensions from website:
Noctua dimensions: 160 x 140 x 158mm ( H x W x D)
Dark Rock Pro: 133 x 150 x 166 (L x W x H)

You'll struggle to fit that as well. I would go down the Antec 620 or Corsair H50/60 route.
