What did you do to your bike today?

Basically you need to suck it and see because everyone has a different opinion :)

Apart from Wurth dry muck, that stuff turned my brand new YBR chain into a rusting rat bike chain in a matter of weeks and not even middle of winter salt everywhere weeks.

Had to change over my tank/fuel pump on my old 125 as it wasn't priming the pump, luckily still had a spare from when I couldn't get it started last year, just need to get it cleaned up a bit, MOT'd and sold.

I use the WD40 wet chain lube. Seems to be okay. Just need to let it settle/go tacky a bit before you ride off otherwise it flings quite badly.

It needs to be put on a hot chain ideally.

Plus lube last thing, so it has overnight to settle. I've applied mine hot and cold and not had any fling as long as I leave it for a while before riding.

Even applied it in the morning before setting off when touring in Scotland, so only had about 15 mins to settle and didn't get a huge amount of fling.

That's with Castrol stuff. Same probably goes for WD stuff (unless it's rubbish).

I'm charging my SV battery... got an optimate 601 from a friend, how long does it take? It's still not up to 14V :/ Been on a good 5hours...

Depends what voltage it started on and whether the battery is goosed. I'm pretty sure my optimate never quite reaches 14v normally sits around 13.8-.9 from memory although it's been a while since I've had it hooked up so I may be talking rubbish.

I need to clean my chain before new lube but I can't ride with no lube and cleaning it will cool it off, what do?

For a clean, I normally:

Clean
Let dry for a bit (to make sure cleaner and water has dried)
Lube a fair bit, not too much
Leave overnight
Ride
Lube while hot, just a little bit
