I learnt to drive with an independent instructor in a Suzuki Ignis 1.3 GL. It was very... yellow and I didn't like it. It looked like this:-

Perhaps it was because I was used to my 1.8D Fiesta Mk3 at the time (my GF would take me out in it) and also obviously had little experience, but I found it very twitchy. I found the Fiesta much nicer to drive despite the lack of PAS. Maybe I just wasn't used to "modern" cars at the time, but it just didn't feel right. It felt quite nippy, but my trusty Fiesta was more capable uphill. One thing that really bugged me was that my feet kept getting caught on something above the pedals, although that may have been something to do with the dual controls or something.

So yeah - what did you learn in and did you like it?

03 corsa 1.4? Ctdi and a corsa 1.2 petrol.

Pile of crap, both of them.
the 1.2 had the nastiest sounding engine ever and neither had any steering feedback whatsoever, but meh, I passed my test in one.

Quite liked it actually, although it was the first car I'd driven!

I briefly learnt with another independent instructor in a white Peugeot 205 1.8D. Hated it. Awfully slow and I didn't like the controls at all

A Citroen C2 1.4 TD.

Not a bad car, absolute doddle to drive.

Felt like you were driving a bus though. Quite a high driving position.

My instructors car was a Citreon AX 1.0 and also used a Peugeot 309 1.3, my first car.

A K reg Kia Pride (mazda 121 lookylikey) Went from that to an unrestored 1963 Morris Minor convertible - luxury compared to the kia!

My instructor had a 106 rally , it was bloody awesome. White, with white alloys. Everyone looked at it!
