What do you consider the worst modern game show?

They brought back bullseye and have inserted so much filler fluff it's awful.
Didn’t see it but I assume it’s a tongue and cheek ironic version like the Dave Sparkey remake a few years back.

It was of it’s time and was definitely a guilty pleasure on a Sunday afternoon. Can’t imagine it ever working without Jim Bowen and Tony Green.

I posted already here, but posting again as I saw Michael McIntyre's Big Show last night for the first time. Despite the negative shout-outs here, I thought it was ok. I see it as a modern day version of Noel's House Party as both contains social experiments. If you don't like Michael McIntyre, then at least it's only on for 6 weeks (mid-Jan to mid-Feb) unlike Noel's House Party which was on for like half a year.

Regarding Deal or No Deal, it came back for that 4-week pilot at the end of 2023 then the one-off celeb special at the end of 2024 but I didn't realise it's still going. Again I thought it was ok but preferred Noel's version.

There was something recent(ish) that I saw at a friend's house which was Blind Date but the contestants stripped totally naked. Surprisingly, it was on channel 4 IIRC. I didn't think that sort of stuff was allowed on normal TV and I wasn't a fan so that gets my vote, and even their cat looked away from the screen!

Channel 4 is an utter sewer.

On a serious point, I can't help feeling that some of the people who go on that type of show have mental issues & C4 is just exploiting t.hem. It 's the 21st C version of them Victorian freak show.

Back to game shows, yes, I thought Deal Or No Deal (with Noel) was excellent.

Quite enjoyed Jasper Carrott's Golden Balls too.

Deal or No Deal is the very definition of filler - stretching out the opening of 20 (?) boxes and 5 (?) decisions over an entire hour when it could be done in 2 minutes flat.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned picture slam yet :p

The format of this show is actually quite good and runs at a decent pace. However, it’s massively let down by Alan Carr, he just isn’t game show host material, I’ll leave it at that.

All of them except Uni Challenge, the rest of them are the absolute pinnacle of patience testing ****.

With UC they fire questions at you making it fun, and rewarding when you get one right, and some of your educated guesses aren't fsr off.

Love:

House of Games
Pointless (agree with Xander reading every answer and also attempting the missing letters rounds - sooooo annoying).
The Chase
Bullseye - original
Blockbusters (original).
1% Club.
Taskmaster
8 out of 10 Cats does Countdown. Not the same since Sean went though :(
Never Mind the Buzzcocks
WWTBA Millionaire.
QI
Would i lie to you.

Like:

Tenable. Warrick is a pretty crap game show host, proper 80's cheese 'wit'.
Catchphrase. Prefer Roy Walker!
Mock the Week - not the same since Frankie went.
Only Connect - but makes me feel stupid.
Tipping Point.

Hate:

Lingo. Host is very poor.
Uni Challenge. Too high brow for me :)
Mastermind. Used to be a good test of your knowledge and was impressive to see the specialist subjects. Another show dumbed down, "your specialist subject is Chantelle from Big Brother" or Simpsons Season 999 etc.
Family Fortunes. Liked the original hosts, Gino is scum.
Strictly.
Traitors
Deal or No Deal. Original and current. The inane chat with guests and their strategies - vomit inducing.
Gladiators. Original was great, new one is pants as are the hosts.
I'm a Celebrity
Big Brother
Love Island
Wheel of Fortune - too much chatter though.

Bring back:

Krypton Factor
321 - barmy!
Strike it Luck with Barrymore :)
15 to 1
Knightmare
Big Break
The Crystal Maze
Weakest Link

We regularly have a quiz show on when eating dinner :)

Bring back:

The Crystal Maze
Weakest Link
these already had a reboot. not watched the crystal maze one but have seen the weakest link....it's crap now.

deal or no deal has to be the worst show ever created. utter tosh with half wits waffling on about strategies and all manner of nonsense as if it had some impact on the outcome. beyond stupid.

The ones I really hate are those gameshows where they have multiple pleb contestants, and they go through various rounds of varying complexity, with the host encouraging the plebs to "banter" with each other, or otherwise force them to interact, and one gets eliminated at each stage or whatever, and it all culminates with their being two left and the whole point of the show is, by means of a secret ballot, these last two have to either share the money or **** over the other pleb to take it all, or if both of them try to steal neither gets anything. I seem to remember several gameshows with this type of gimmick, and I chuffing well hate it. It's just the producers wanting to create drama by having random plebs tempted to become ***** for the sake of £200.
