What do you do in your lunch break?

Order a pizza. Have a cigar/ cigarette and wait for it.
Go to the shop for a lunch. Eat said lunch, have a cigar/ cigarette in the time saved.
Go to the pub for a pub lunch and a pint (common favourite)

i work 8:30 ish to 4ish and have 30 mins for lunch (thank the good lord for flexitime)

i eat at my desk whilst browsing and mosy on down the shops for 30 mins then spend 30 mins either side of that browsing.

works good for me.

Tend to sit in the tea room reading my magazine, if the pc is free pop on that for ten minutes.
The other week I sat on the roof in the shade which was nice (The roof has a mezzanine floor with rails)

As a teacher you have to sort out all of the problems you cannot tackle whilst taking a lesson. Hence no lunch break!

Depends what shift I'm on, 6-2 normally get something from the canteen and browse the web on my iPhone, on the 2-10 shift the canteen is closed so I bring my own lunch and then go and call my gf. I work on a business park which I have never explored, I might have a walk around one day, there is meant to be a wine and sandwich bar somewhere.

I havent had a lunch hour in 10 years of working, I have to feed the child I look after, and then myself in the 45 minutes we get before we have to head back to school for the afternoon.

Isn't that against the working time directive? You are entitled to a lunch break, your employer should plan your time more effectively.

Ha yeah in theory, but in reality he needs to eat, and I need to eat and theres no one else around to do it. Welcome to working for the council. My time cant be planned more effectively because lessons at school finish at 1:10, start again at 2:20 and it takes us 10 minutes each way to get home from school and back again (he cant eat at school because, trust me feeding a disabled child is anything but easy) so by the time ive got him in the car and out of the car at the other end that gives me my 45 minutes - fun huh!

You are entitled to it, but most people don't bother and work through it... well I do, but then again I'm a mug and do long days because I'm busy. But I enjoy working anyway. I take enough breaks to make tea, browse the forums etc... so really having an official lunch break is not necessary. Besides I don't think I've ever done less than a 50hr week.

Im lucky enought to live a minute walk frm work so a mate and I normally go back to mine and play on the xbox or watch tv
