What do you do that goes against your ideals?

I love animals, and I understand the harmful impacts that farming/breeding animals for eating has but I am not vegetarian or vegan.
I could transition to being a vegetarian quite easily, vegan I wouldn't even entertain.

But what if one of your kids would be the chosen one to save the world and your selfishness denies us this chance? :p

Looking at my and my Gfs personality? More likely to be an ADHD nutcase incapable of managing even the most basic day to day tasks with little motivation to succeed and deep ingrained depression! :D

Edit
And id make a terrible parent. Gf even worse. If I wanted kids we would not be together!

I'm nearly vegetarian (I only eat meat when I'm out, and sometimes not then.) but vegan, yeah it's a different ball game. I feel guilt here as I think of my dogs past. And all. Dogs in East Asia.. But then I eat cheese.

It plays on my mind more than the environment. Seriously.. What goes on in East Asia is beyond barbaric. And it makes me think that humanity should just end

Veganism isn't too difficult tbh , well apart from fish ,when I crave it I have to buy the omega allgie tablets.
Don't find it takes much will power (unlike alcohol with me) and I find I cook from fresh nearly every day apart from CBA junk fridays

I was listening to a podcast this morning which has a Trail Runner saying he hated the influx of big commercial style companies spending huge money advertising at events but not being there in person actually helping at the event, and generally being against the monetisation of the sport he loved which up until a few years ago had remained at a pretty grassroots level. He then offset that by accepting he was slightly hypocritical because he was a sponsored athlete and so partly funded by the same corporations he disliked (albeit he chose a smaller more independent company as a sponsor).

I suppose the irony, is that without these advertisers, his trail running events would likely die a slow death; or at least scale back down to grassroots.

I don't understand people who are, erm.... "protectionists" on things like this, maybe taking a view that this is 'their' thing, and that it should never grow into anything larger. But then you end uo just being unfriendly and closed off.

My Wife does a lot of running, marathons, ultras and trail stuff - there are still smaller events out there, but the ones with investments from advertisers are always head and shoulders above the rest; and the money they have put in, is often spent to make the whole thing better - attracting more food and drink vendors etc along the way.

But I digress - I answer to your question posed, I don't think I do anything that goes against my ideals to be honest... at a stretch, maybe pushing it on my motorcycle, which goes against being a responsible Father to my Daughter.

I did veganISH January (wife wasn't partaking and couldn't be bothered to make two meals so days)
Just need to be a bit more organised and willing to try different things and it's not too bad.
From trying different things I now have a few vegan dishes that i really liked and now often have them.

I'm a bit of a greenie, I try to minimise my impact in the planet by buying second hand, not wasting things, minimising energy use (especially when the wind isn't blowing or the sun isn't shining) etc.

But I also really like planes. And boy, do they use a lot of fossil fuels.

We take our daughter to church every week so that she will get into a C of E high school, even though I'm not a fan of religion and I also morally disagree with selective schooling.
