Hey guys, just putting some pics of my current computer setup i have.
Let me know your opinion (if its good that is ha) :)

Specs:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ @ 3.12GHZ
4 x 1GB DDR2 800MHZ RAM,
2 x 512MB Nvidia Geforce 9600GT Graphics Cards In SLI,
500GB 7200RPM SATA HDD,
G7 Power Extreme 580Watt PSU,
Asus M2N4-SLI motherboard.

The insides of the tower, the huge heatsinks on my graphics cards are custom fitted ones i put on, theyre originally taken from an xbox 360 but ive added fans to them and they work well as gpu coolers :P

The back of my tower, for effect :)

It looks like you have a dual monitor set-up going on here? What res are you fragging noobs at?

What size fans are on the GPU/XBOX coolers?

(also why is the PSU main power cable tucked behind the wall hung pic?)

i have 2 widescreen acer AL1916W's at 1400x900 res.

and they both have a single 50mm chipset fan on them, its about 50mm anyways, just what i had around at the time :)

under heavy load my gpu's get to a max temp of 60 degrees celcius, with the stock coolers i was looking at nearly 80 degrees celcius.

it's not behind the wall it just goes behind one of my monitors :) lol both my monitors are wall mounted xD

You can see how I could mistake it for a piece of geek art?

Excuse my ignorance, what is the black cable connected to the graphics card?

i'll take that as a compliment xP

And its the hdmi component adapter that goes to my hdmi tv so i can watch movies in bed :)

Heres a picture of the monitors...

Rounded IDE cables, light blue cold cathodes, blue LED fans...all very 2004-2006!

Spec looks like it's fine for most games though. Can't see you improving the system much in the future without changing almost every component though, you'll reach a new bottleneck and have a system without much balance if you upgrade anything massively.

If it works for what you use it for, then great. Don't quite see the point in the thread; if you're happy with it then that's all you need isn't it?

haha :) yeah to upgrade to anything better (say a phenom 2) i'd need a new am3 board the current one is am2.

its pretty much finished though if i do upgrade ill just build a completely new tower.

Take closer pic of that PSU's sticker.
What little info there's available about it hints strongly to it being some ~300W bomb.

I'm not sure about your specific mobo, but AM3 CPU's will work in some AM2/AM2+ mobos, as they have both a DDR2 and DDR3 memory controller on die.

Hard to make anything out of those pics and at least output distribution seems modern but looks like that PSU is overrated at least for fair 150W which isn't good sign.
(they can as well make cheap crap versions of modern designs as old ones)

And that minimal approval markings make it stink further.
(CE doesn't mean anything because it doesn't require testing by anyone)

i see, well im planning on a new build next year, going to get a big 1000watt modular psu, ill ask again before i buy the thing to see what you guys think :)

going to put a ati radeon 5870 in it too ;)

It's a complete mess tbh.

A few things I'd do..

  • Replace the PSU with a new modular one (most come with braided cables) ~£50
  • Replace the optical drive(s) for SATA one(s), also not sure why you need 2 ~£20
  • Tuck your cables away, behind the mobo/tray, behind the cages, above the optical drive, etc.
  • Move your wall plug sockets to BELOW your desk instead of above your monitors.
  • Paint your walls, gloss blue is such a bad colour, I had exactly the same but changed to a matt 'Sand', so much better.
  • Tie the cables running down from your monitors into single grouped strips down the middle.
  • You could even stick your 3.5" hdd into the slots above it and get rid of the HDD cage to lessen clutter.

ha nothing like some below the belt comments especially the one about my walls wtf...

ill have constuctive critisism but sometimes you guys don't seem to see the line before you cross it :O

but the reason i have the wall socket above my desk is because i do a lot of electronics work so need a plug nearby.

I agree with you about the optical drives, i could do with a nice sata blu-ray burner.

as for the cables ... i looked at my mobo/tray and theres like a 0.5cm gap for the cables to be routed, im gunna spend abit of money on upgrading some coolers and stuff after christmas so ill sort it then and update ze thread!

hopefully next time the colour of my walls wont come into it ... if you must know ive not redocorated since i was like 14 when i had it painted lol, just set up a new business so havent really had the time, but ill get to it asap gee3000 ... just for you.
