What do you guys think ?

Hello hellow! Welcome to the forums.

I like the look of your spec. Now depending if you are planning to overclock the system theres a few small changes.

I see you wanted 4gb of ram, if you really like that, your much better off getting a 2x2gb kit, it will run much better. Such as http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-019-GS

Motherboard is very good, depends how your setup is going to be which one should be chosen as a final choice.

The Artic Cooling 7 is quite small in comparison to other coolers you can get ( If your buying one may I suggest a Noctua ( http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-002-NC )

Its much bigger than the AC7 but should fit in fine if you have a medium size case :)

Ive decided to change the memory to Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-5300C3 667MHz

Ive heard of the geil kits being bad  or shall i stick with the geil

The Giel is good ram, the Crucial Ballistix PC5300 will overclock above 1000MHz unlike the Giel which doesn't go that high.

Hey also ive heard that windows professional isnt 64bit so do i need to upgrade to vista, is it worthwile ?

Vista Home Premium is good, it depends what you are using your PC for, it adds lots of nice functions.

It can often lose a few FPS in games but its nothing drastic.

Just ALWAYS check all your hardware for vista drivers, before you buy anything.

So if i decide to stay on xp, i wont be using both cores am i right?

XP Home at least can't cope with multiple physical processors but it copes fine with multiple logical processors e.g. dual core. However it is a 32bit OS so if you get 4gb Ram then you will not see the full amount, more likely something approaching 3.5gb. :)

as mentioned above, you need fsx sp1 to allow the game (sorry, simulator) to take full advantage of multi-core chips. xp itself will be fine - if you're adding 4GB of ram, or more, you may want to consider Vista 64-bit - otherwise xp is doing nicely.

Personally, I'm holding off vista until at least sp1 for 64-bit ultimate edition, and even then I'll be keeping an eye on forums and reviews of the service pack before I leave xp-pro.

Okay so ive decided not to upgrade.

I think ill upgrade when memory for 4 gb kits gets cheaper, and also maybe when vista ultimate gets sp1 and runs smoothly.

Reason is that i dont want to waste money and find that my sytem wont even run fsx on ultra high.

Thanks for all your help people.

If you are going to go for 4gb of Ram then just plug all of it in, putting in 3x1gb doesn't make much sense as you aren't getting the benefit of dual channel from at least one of the pairs. So either get 2x2gb or 4x1gb and put it all in, if Windows can't use it all then it doesn't really matter that much.

If you aren't overclocking go for the cheaper of the two. :)

//edit just saw your edit, that is fair enough then.
