What do your parents think of you drinking? (<18)

I was actively encouraged to drink as a young lad by my folks to teach me responsible drinking habits. At 12 I used to think Martini Rosso and lemonade was the height of sophistication, especially when supped from my POSH (Peterborough United) glass.

I didn't really drink much until I came to uni as at that point I was 18, my dad used to give me a few beers every now and then but as I don't particularly like drinking on my own so it was never a big deal.

I'm almost certainly not a responsible drinker now as far as the textbook definition goes because I'll drink most alcoholic things that are put in front of me and I'm definitely a binge drinker according to governmental guidelines but I've not yet been in any trouble through drinking(beyond the odd apology to someone for talking too much or too loudly) and I'll normally stay within my limits so on that basis I'd say it isn't a problem which makes me wonder about the guidelines.

I've just realised, my parents never talked to me about anything! Drink, drugs, boys, sex, they just pretended none of it existed and left me to it. It's a miracle I've turned into the well adjusted morally upstanding citizen I am today!
Mine did the same! :o It worked out alright, went through a stage of getting completely plastered and throwing up 3-4 years ago, but realised that it was a bit daft and ive not done the same since.

I never had drink for the sake of it so the only times I ever drunk were socially. My grandad used to give me a snowball at christmas since the age of 14 and I got rather drunk at a house party at 16 but apart from That I haven't drunk underage and I'm very responsible about my drinking.

lol, I just realized that mine didn't either. I mean when my dad used to offer me a drink, my mom said "not until he's 18" but beyond that, nothing :p

So i've heard from a few of my friends here and online, but still, i wanna see at least once what it's like :p
Tbh I'm not entirely sure if I have been :o
I've woken up feeling rough once but that was my own stupid fault because I'd gone out the night before, hadn't eaten all day and didn't drink enough water afterwards. But I wouldn't have said I was drunk that night, nor would the people I was with think that.

i would say that my parents didnt mind as long as i didnt endanger myself, otherwise in the end its my own personal responsibility which i can see is fair enough

I think I started when I was ~14, parents knew exactly what I was doing... but it was only innocent getting smashed at mates / my house, so it was no big deal. I was pretty mature, and by the time I was earning money at 16, I was out up in Birmingham in the weekends, or the local pub by me. My parents are pretty laid back, my 20th Birthday party, they didn't really care how much weed was being smoked by some guests, as long as it was outside.

Drinking on the streets is a lot of fun :D Especially if you live in London, nothing like bringing a skateboard to Trafalgar Square, getting wasted, and ****ing about :p

Feeling rough will normally mean you have got a hangover(congratulations ;)) and like in your case can result from a number of different things but being drunk doesn't automatically make for a hangover I've found and nor does not feeling drunk or what other people think of your state of sobriety. Quite often people don't seem able to tell if I've had much to drink which can be amusing but it is never a good indicator of how drunk someone is in my experience. Also as I'm sure you are well aware people have vastly different drinking capacities so that can affect how other people perceive them, without knowing someone well you can easily misinterpret what state they are in :)

Fair enough :) Went within about 20mins anyway, just needed a drink and some food and was fine then.
Otherwise that's probably the only time, mainly because I'm usually a lot more careful than that.
