What does everybody do here?

Pretty interesting and varied mix here, lots of IT (I guess should be expected).

I'm a pilot with a major British airline, a job I love as it involves mostly looking out of the window.

I'd give organs to have your job.

I'm a sysadmin with a longer title. Work in edu, so crap pay but I like the job and it's local (hurray for a 15 minute commute!)

Used to run a new plant and machinery dealership

Setup on my own 3 years ago buying an selling used plant, offering consultation to business's buying new plant (savings etc) and the same for sales. As well as selling plant on commission only for customers.

Would never go back but it can be a lonely place on your own when your used to a big team etc. When things go wrong, and they can its only yourself who can sort.

Looking to venture into asset management with people who have no time for it, such as famous people, football managers etc etc. Not sure how to approach that yet but i have a few ideas.

I'm a development transport planner. We advise developers on the highway aspect of their development, such as whether the access junction onto the main road is suitable and safe, whether the parking bays are accessible, how many vehicles will be generated by the proposed development etc. For larger developments we do junction and network modelling to determine whether the junctions will be operating over capacity in the future as a result of the development, and then argue with the Council why the development shouldn't have to fix it.

More interesting than IT at any rate, in my opinion!
