What does it mean if you dont dream

In the early 80's I was a test dummy at Keele University and the bods reckon everybody dreams but most can't remember.
I have the rare condition of going into dream mode (REM) as soon as I fall asleep so I don't have to sleep as long as some.
Apparently it takes the average person two hours to enter REM.
I was tested at Keele because I claimed that I started dreaming even if I nodded off for 5 minutes and the experts confirmed it and gave me £250 for a weeks sleeping.

Man I need this job like permantly ;)

I use to be a lot better at controlling my dreams but its getting impossible/harder to do it in my older (wiser!) years.... no more Jessica Alba visits thats for sure :(

I find that the way i remember dreams is to think what i dreamed about as soon as i open my eyes, and i always rememeber (thats if i remember to remember to think about the dream!! :p)

Works for me :)

family member told me that, maybe it will work for you? :)

Lucids are cool as **** - but it only "occurs" to me very occasionally that I'm in one. One day there'll be the technology to make you have one at will.

Or just buy some acid :p

I've heard (probably a load of tosh) that if you cannot remember your dreams that you've had a good nights sleep?

From time to time I still have the same dream (nightmare more like) when I'm going to school completely butt naked and I run to my locker looking for my PE gear but no luck....:( I hate that dream.

Sounds like a explanation. Surely if you have a lighter sleep your brain will be more active and allow you to remember the dream, but if you can't remember the dream then your brain was just about completley inactive meaning it couldn't store the dream?

To get a soul, take a teaspoon of Colman's Mustard before bed. It'll grow in no time. :)

ive started remembering my dreams recently. Mainly they have been me being chased by lions and tigers   :D

My mum read a book on dreams and she said your dreams often reflect your current emotions, e.g if your sad, nervous etc. Ive always been told you only remember the dreams just before you wake up.

A dream i had last night had something to do with 3 demons fighting each other in a church or something and just before they attack me i woke up, WTF????

So u gotta find religion and confront your demons, repent your evil sins !

Anyone else had something external screw about with a dream? By this I mean maybe someone knocking on your bedroom door, or your alarm clock going off? This happens to me all the time... Ill hear something - or see something sometimes in a brief moment of being awake - and it gets incorporated into my dream... creates some weird effects at times...

One I had the other day was freaky I was dreaming about an average day when parent knocks on my door and shouts "phone". Suddenly everything in my dream relates to phones and phonecalls :|

I may have made this up but I'm sure its true.

That you only remember your dreams if you wake up during REM.
That would explain a couple of things.
1. When people say, they got up at a wierd time, or went to the toilet in the night, thats when they remember their dream.
2. Have you ever finished a dream?

Haven't remembered many dreams since I stopped having nightmares, quite happy not to atm.

I had an ex that only ever had anxiety dreams, like missing buses etc. - and me cheating on her!

.....Actually now that I think about it I had a weird dream last night! Wow it does work!

Dreaming is your brains way of filing things away, storing memories and so on. This is why you'll often dream about things that have happened recently. It's also why babies sleep about 20 hours a day and dream for the vast bulk of it - they have an enormous amount of things to file and sort and interpret.

If you don't remember your dreams, it means you were fairly deep under during them. If you wake during a dream, you will likely remember it.

Of the people who genuinely don't dream, most have personality disorders.

Dreaming is your brains way of making up for lack of stimulation.

Foods such as cheese and ice cream intensify your brains stimulation which is why if you eat these before you go to sleep your more likely to remember your dreams because they are more intense.

If you are on medication especially anti - depressants or hard A class drugs then your also not meant to dream....

So your probably getting enough stimulation that any dreaming you do is very minimum and you don't remember or your taking drugs that remove the need to dream as well :)

Some anti-depressants increase dream frequency and lucidity. Freaky dreams are a side effect of many anti-depressants.

Same as Rich_L said, no soul or you have a potato for a heart. Sorry dude :(

Your only option is to eat plenty of chesse before you go to bed, although that will only induce a vivid dream, rather, than help you remember it.

yes, this happens to me all the time. Drives me mad cos i don't know what was real and what wasn't. A while ago in my dream I was being chased by a massive bumble bee that just got louder and louder. It was the alarm clock buzzing, but it didn't wake me up - i just lay there dodging this bee for 20 minutes then fell back to sleep. Usually it's the alarm incorporated into my dream, when it goes off it's a doorbell, or an alarm on a bus, or a house or my cat ringing a bell or something :D

I have found that I get "memories" from a dream that I then think are real memories, or days/weeks/months later cant remember if its a dream memory or a real memory :(
