What does J. Carragher think of G. Neville then?

if Neville had done that in front of Stokes Boothen End they would have hung him from the crossbar.

The difference being if Neville did that at Stoke, it would be an away game in front of majority opposition home fans and it would probably kick off a riot. But the fact is, he did it at Old Trafford with 90%+ Utd fans around him. If you can't do that sort of thing in your home stadium well then you can't really do it in any stadium. Liverpool fans have not made an issue of this and were not even the ones who brought it to the F.A.

over-reaction seems to be commonplace now, Hughes looks like he's going to be brought in front of the F.A for his comments after the match. Ronaldo was charged by UEFA today as well. Managers should be able to voice their opinions and people have to accept the fact that fans will always give more abuse than a player and I don't see them being picked out by cctv and arrested for possibly inciting a riot. Surely the F.A has better things to do, or maybe this is the only thing that keeps most of them in a job?

Yes there was 90%+ manc fans there, so why did he have to run all the way to the other end to celebrate. Surly when you score you want to acknowledge your own fans

EDIT:

And as already stated it was your own police force who thought it was needed to be brought up to the FA. Im sure most of the away fans would have been happy just giving him more stick next game when we win :P

to rub it in of course ;) many players do it to wind up opposition fans, but I didn't see many of them being brought to the F.A. In many ways he was acknowledging our fans by doing that because they were giving him and the rest of the players some stick during the game.

I've seen much much worse things happen on a football pitch that go unpunished by the F.A. The refereeing and F.A are getting worse.

Edit:

We'll see about the next result ;) :p

for once I agree with Ferguson:

"Absolutely no chance [would The FA have acted if Neville did not play for United]. Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher ran the full length of the field with their fists raised at the Everton fans recently, and not a word was said. At Manchester City, Robbie Fowler ran past our fans showing five fingers [to indicate Liverpool's European Cup wins], and our fans surged to the front. The stewards had real trouble dealing with them and not a word was said then either. The FA compliance office only reacts when the press writes it - that is a fact and it cannot be right. You can't be running a proper compliance office if it only reacts to what the press say. What are they doing during the week? Does nobody study videos, only read it in the papers. It is a problem."
