[ ] - what does this mean in a username?

So - if you have a [tag] in your username you are, in effect, saying; oohhhh, look at me - love me - don't hate me - I want to be like others and fit in - I have no anonymity - just the desire to conform.

Is that right?

:)

Probably the opposite really given the number with tags in relation to those without...

Or just an easy way to show which clan you represent ingame.

e.g xJcBx~[UKg]

Yeah, you're not really getting this are you?

In some games, players show they are a member of a clan by using a unique tag which takes the form of a prefix or suffix "tag". Tags are often enclosed in brackets or symbols and colored differently if the game allows it. In some clans, there is also a prefix/suffix, which would include your clan rank or status. An example would be: Name(clan name), [clan name]name, or (clan name)name.

Really can't make it any easier to understand than that, sorry.

e : and to answer what I think you thought was a dig at those with clan tags, no, you're wrong. Clans are probably even less cool these days than they were 10 or 15 years ago so it's not a "look at me thing" at all.

Also, how can you be on the internet and not be familiar with this? Are you 10 years old or something?

No it's just a team name, the [] tags are just a clean and simple way to separate it from your player name or the default tags the game wraps around clan/team names.

[tw]fox uses it because someone already has the name Fox and [TW] was his old clan tag so it makes sense to stick it front rather than fox09 etc.

Most leagues require you to all wear your tags when you play matches iirc too.

But please don't let facts get in the way of your "oh look I'm so individual and unique" rant, we haven't had one for a week or so so it really is needed.

Right - I'm well out of my depth here - I'll revisit soon, I think, maybe when less stupid juice has been imbibed. :o

Ahhh it's the "look at me I'm special cause I'm pretending to be drunk on the internet" rant, my mistake.

Nope - drunk as you like - no pretending here :)

Lol, you have to be 18 to purchase alcohol.

Clans? Really? Have 'clan' members actually met other clan members (I mean physically - not ephemerally)?

If it's uncool then why do [you] feel it necessary to advertise your clan?

Cheers for jumping on board though :)

No, I'm not 10 years old - I wish I were, but unfortunately I'm quite a bit older than that :o.
