What effect does coffee and caffeine have on you?

I never really thought it had a noticeable effect on me, but I guess a cup of tea can be quite relaxing and its whats probably keeping me awake at night..

Never noticed any increased energy/alertness from drinking energy drinks though.

I once drank a pint of espresso before an English lesson in college. Fell asleep about 2 minutes into the lesson and no one could wake me up. However, I cannot do anything without a tea or coffee on a morning when I wake up.

What happens if you have less than 10 cups a day?

sorry forgot to add that, i feel no different, ive always struggled sleeping anyway from being a kid. Has got a little better having a child.

Normal bed time is 1:00-1:30 and im up for work 8ish

I used to be 3AM and up at 7AM!

Not a lot really... The other day I couldn't sleep and took some caffeine pills in the morning in an attempt to stay awake... I still managed to fall fast asleep on the train into work.

Coffee seems to do nothing but energy drinks do seem to make me more alert for a couple of hours, I tend to crash hard though. I had a red bull this morning and I'm feeling worse for it now, very tired.

If I drink an energy drink I the morning I'll need to drink one every couple of hours till late evening otherwise I'm asleep very early.

Dont drink much caffeine personally however when I do it has absolutely no effect on me whether thats 1 coffee to 5 red bulls. Never has! may have had to much coke as a kid lol :D

Mainly just drink water now though.

Technically speaking, Caffeine is probably one of the worst "legal" drugs the world consumes.

And as for people claiming they are immune to it's effects / or have built up such a big tolerance that it has no effect on them......the actual tolerance you have built up is just to the stimulant effects of it and possibly the diuretic effect that it has (which is a serious problem people overlook).

There are a whole host of other processes going on in your body that the caffeine will still be having a direct effect on (vasoconstriction and the release of hormones like adrenaline and norepinephrine - which usually cause blood to be channelled to muscles rather that places like the intestines - release of stomach acid - and relaxation of smooth muscle etc) - And read up on what it is used for with regard to premature babies..... it has saved many a kids life over the years.

How much of an effect does coffee and caffeine have on you, because I don't find it affects me very much, and it's supposed to? :p

Not a lot, my body is somewhat numbed to it.

When I don't drink any for a few days, I get headaches for a day or so and then it goes.

My misses on the otherhand is banned from redbull by her family and friends, apparently she goes ****ing ape poop when she drinks it. I've not had the pleasure of experiencing this feat though.

How have you resisted this?! Get her some redbull pronto!

Didn't drink coffee until last year, find it perks me up a bit but the most noticeable effect is that it usually leads me to the toilet pretty quick for the morning log!

I don't drink tea or coffee on a regular basis ( some people think I'm weird ), but in the past when i have some of my missus star bucks stuff its made me have heart palpitations and feel light headed.

Same with energy drinks, feel OK but then i get a kind of crash which makes me feel nasty.

Caffeine is proven to make you need the toilet more than usual.

As for me coffee has very little or no effect, I drink it purely because I like the taste - I could drink it 10mins before bed and still fall asleep.

Too much and the shakes happen though, but I only really have a cup or two a day.
