Please! don't be so dramatic. I got a little heated because of the advantages of missing steps and steadier aims whilst in movement. Of course I'm going to be annoyed. I've spent a lot of time kicking cheats off the servers as well as a lot of other people so I have a right to be annoyed and especially if this could be happening on the community servers that I'm a part off as it's just not on. If you read my posts you will see me mention it a few times. When it becomes an advantage then it's a BIG no no and I don't think any of the members would disagree with me on that account.If I offended your friend then I will apologise, It wasn't intended to offend so I'm sorry. I love the game and I respect fair play. If I think something is not right then I'll damn well open my mouth and when I'm passionate about something that I've spent a bit of time in then I'm going to react a little heated if what's mentioned in relation to it is advantageous over regular players.
Think of it like this, if everyone was capable of 500FPS in CoD4 then using this would be useless against everyone else as they would all be the same. That would make the advantage useless then and this is why I think it shouldn't be allowed period as it's for gain over other people = unfair

So to achieve this do i have to set a cap at 333 or is it everything from 333 to 1000? Going to a LAN tomorrow and would like to test it with my friends.

used to run 2x 7950 gt oc 512mb in sli and got a constant 156 fps in cod4,
upgraded to a 8800gtx and now get 333+ constant.my game style has remained unchanged,playin at 1280x720 with everything on max.has improved my overall score by 30 % and starting to win a lot more games.finding i can knife a lot more players now!lol! got another one to pop in at the weekend and i will post back with the fps.
only way i get massive fps is to stand still and look at the sky or ground and that gives me only 850+.

for online FPS , higher resolution = better aiming, ie, depending on distance, 1 pixel causes a miss of 20 meters, that is rubbish. and im on 1680*1050, need to increase now, cannot aim properly because of small amount of pixels, obviously for crap games where range is 5 meters you dont really need anything so play with a calculator.
as long as you dont notice lag you there is 0 difference aslong as the FPS never drops below 50, 100+ is not needed... anyway most online FPS suck because you have kids playing who spend lots of money on hardware, run around talking crap and using words like n00b and stuff.. kids shouldnt play online games, they should stick to PS3 / xbox crap

Here's a true story..
I play COD4 with the highest detail I can get away with. I enjoy the game that way, seeing the birds fly, feel the wind in my hair and watch the grass sway with the warming autumn sun. One day I was visiting a friend, who also plays COD4. He is a rather leet-talking rat-boy, who persistently used terms such as ZOMG, NAAB, NOOB and the occasional LOL3RSK4TES. So I play on his PC for a bit and he has this uber duper CFG he got from someone or somewhere. All the detail was tweaked away and everything was utter basic and at a low resolution. It kind of reminded me off the good old days of Atari, a gaming more fitting for the commador64. It was visually like me when I wake up after a heavy night of alcoholic beverages. Disgusting. I hated the look and feel of it with passion.
BUT....I could spot the enemy much easier, and indeed shooting/killing was much easier too. Bullets seemed to connect easier and movement was indeed more swift and ... nice. I could also jump onto certain objects that I can't do on my PC. So basically yes, the higher FPS levels and ***** graphics certainly made things much, much easier.
He asked me if I wanted a copy of the cfg...I promptly replied "NO" followed by a tasteful collage of abuse. I dont agree with config tweaking of this level, it gives such a big advantage its not far from cheating in my humble opinion. I believe everyone should play on an even playing field and these CFG's should be locked.
Before leaving a damp, rather tangy and possibly life-threatening fart on his worn down desk chair, I headed off home to enjoy my sexy, nicer looking game of COD4. I played, knowing other's had an advantage, but happy with the fact I was looking at a nice game image and not just playing, but playing like a real man. Like Rambo. I mean like wtf ffs, would rambo play with 10 million FPS and switch the jungle off? No because he is ze pwnzor and the leetest leet of leetland!

Ease up on him a bit, he does have some valid points (ish) based on FPS offering an advantage, even though it's so minimal you won't notice it hardly at all. Still at the end of the day, if you don't have the natural nack for the game, you will still suck, no matter what rig/settings you have. Poor lad, just don't think he's coming across very well. haha.
you sound like you take the game pretty seriously from your posts so im guessing all textures will be set to lowest setting with a low res.....if thats the case there will be very little strain on your graphics card and fps will depend on your cpu.
cant say how many fps you will get as that depends on how many players are on the server and how close they are too you.
i didnt know cod4 was based on q3 engine(o maybe ive misread the posts lol) but i see where your coming from wanting the higher fps....i used to play rtcw which used q3 engine and the fps did make a lot of difference.

my god, in my experience not great players who will never be good think fps is important. I don't need to make special fancy jumps, or jump over gaps using a nade blowing up to boost me. i play, i kill and i win mostly. all the "tricks" and routes won't help you if you have slow reaction times and the inability to predict where people are going around the map. ON CS for instance, lets say the office, if you get up into the office area as a CT and theres no T's there, if you can't use your brain and predict a garage rush by them, meaning they'll storm up behind you then you'll die as they shoot you in the back. being able to jump to a different ledge, or whatever doesn't help.
i always play the max res/details my screen offers and never have an issue. never turned down my settings for a clan match and never will.
as other people have hinted at, it tends to be noobs and so on that insist on changing config settings for advantages, i've never seen a player coming in the top 2-3 on a map beg for help with his config settings, but the guys at 2-20 do, constantly and ask what fps they need to be good.
as for people who use razors. top teams use whatever gear they can get SPONSORED to use. they'll often get small deals for free kit and maybe even money if they advertise what kit they use. I mean, have you seen any of the fatality kit at all? the mobo's, the mouse all of it is overpriced and really poorly designed. He uses it because he's paid to use it, not because its good kit. but again, he's using worse kit for money, yet still wins, meaning its 99% the player and the mouse/keyboard/chair, air supply don't really make a difference(except the guys who you know, don't have an air supply at all).

first im not a kid, been playing high standard for like ten years nearly.i do have skill which a lot keep assuming i dont which is the mother of all ...... i play like ive said a thousand times (slight over exag) on very high skilled servers when i want a serious game.Against these types of players you need everything refined to stand a chance of winning .there not like public servers you all go on.if i play on publics which i do lots of the time i will play normal with normal settings.as it doesnt require the effort or skill or concentration.why oh why you keep attacking my choice of graphics selection is beyond me.you play at your res ill play at mine.wheres the problem.all the muppets who keep talking about hacks this leet stuff and other rubbish what are you on about.you always get this with fps and online games and the ones that dont know will start chanting rubbish.

consider this, pro' playing in tournaments (and im talking lans here), wont be using those exploits will they. much like rate hacking or anything else, pulling that sort of stunt will only get you so far. its not wise to call people muppets when your follow the rest like a sheep and using these exploits to get one over.

for that setting, 1680x1050, aa on max, all eye cand and glow on, all texture settings on max should be a shoe in, im unsure about your native res as ive never played at that res but at the res i stated you should have no problems atall. i force aa x16Q in the drivers and it still plays flawlassly.
