What game did you play last?

Got a decent charity shop find yesterday. Forbidden Island. Haven't played it yet, but it looks pretty good.

Today got several games in. Deep Regrets, Bunny Kingdom, Space Base and Souvenirs from Venice.

Also backed the Flamecraft expansion on Kickstarter. Don't want the 2 player game version, but the expansion. Yes please.

I recently played forbidden island with my just 7YO - he really enjoyed that too. I'll look into Jaipur for him.

I've seen more basic versions of carcassone / ticket to ride, no idea if any good.
My boy plays ticket to ride with me. We play face up to make it a bit easier for him and I can provide him suggestions. Never played forbidden island, will take a look cheers.

Forbidden Island was a great Entry to gaming with my daughter years ago. Forbidden Desert was an interesting follow on, would recommend both. Never got around to any of the others.

@phinix very similar but with some interesting tweaks. Not played for a while so I might miss something but you are trying to find the parts for a plane/airship in the sands. The sand level rises making it harder and I think you run the risk of everything being obliterated in the sandstorm.

Weird but I just went to double check and I cannot find it anywhere. My daughter has Island on her shelf but it's not in her room or on the main games shelf .

Anyone played the villainous games and what are your thoughts?

I bought it to play with my niece who was in the lower age range for it at that time

She found it waaay to complex, and TBF so did I for a board game that I thought would be fairly simple with it being a Disney game.

Sat in the cupboard ever since, didn't find it interesting enough to plough through.

Been soloing Vantage the last couple of days.
Lots of choices on your turn but you only get 1 action (usually) so probably not for those that suffer analysis paralysis. Very easy to pick up and can't find much wrong with it so far other than it can be a bit too forgiving.

I got Happy Salmon out recently - and it's bloody great fun. Games only last about 90 seconds, but they are chaotic and brilliant to take part in. I've been told they are hilarious to watch. Plus my six year olds can play, so that is testament to how simple it is to play.

Happy Salmon is great! I take it to places that need an “Ice Breaker”. It’s had a couple of outings at work strategy days to get people warmed up and in a more relaxed mood.

A friend recently brought Family Business to the pub, it was a great game and really simple to learn.

I got The Lord of the Rings: Fate of the fellowship during the week

It was to play with my gaming group but we aren't getting together until January, but I broke it out as you can play it solo (almost like a puzzle to overcome) to try and learn the rules.

Love the cardboard eye of sauron dice tower. Between setting up, playing, restarting after 30 mins when I realised I did it wrong, playing again and putting it away was about 3 ½ hours!

Looks like it'll be fun, but I did find the board itself is very busy. The cards give you an indication where places are but you still spend a bit of time trying to hunt down the areas and following little arrows to move enemy troops around
