What gaming PC would you buy with £600?

Part of it's the gouging - CPU and and the boards. The other part is the excitement has warn off a bit - that coupled with i have no real need to upgrade - but i want a Zen 2, just to play with.
Indeed. I don't wanna pay the gouged prices. And I don't really need to upgrade. I just want to...lol. I suspect just whacking up the ram to 32gb would suit me the next couple years.
If funds are a tight i would always suggest waiting (2020 prices will be considerably lower) - but when you consider how often you upgrade your core components (sensible) I would argue that you will get value for money whenever you buy - even on release. N.B. I'm not including your planned NVMe drives in that last bit
Funds aren't tight. I'm just Chinese...and we don't like to pay over the odds for stuff :P
As for your situation it's not so cut and dried - 400 mods and 350K pop!!! Have you not heard of thinning the heard? Add the disasters DLC - and walk away from your screen for 20 minutes that will save you some much needed system memory...
Got it to 400k pop now lol...and I've got my natural disasters turned off :P I'll be sad when I run out of space to build...and probably start a new city lol
We're getting old and sensible tamzzy - well i am, you're just getting old :D
Old. And Chinese. Lol.

I thought Chinese frugality was a stereo type - a bit like a tight-fisted/sot Scots (@pastymuncher - just an example :D)? Certainly, not the worst 'quality' to be associated with. :)

Either way, it's a generational trait that i wish western society had adopted as we wouldn't be in such a ****ing global fiscal mess (going completely off topic now.).

Looks like you're going to have to break with tradition one way or the other. Buying another 16GB of EOL DDR3 will stick in the throat - obviously 2nd hand will take the edge off.

Or, a completely new spangly spec - perhaps delayed by a few months. And, as you're more than aware, there's more benefits than just money saving, when giving new architecture a few months to breathe. You get to watch all the teething problems in the comfort of your chair or via a friend's build.

We would get to watch @orbitalwalsh fine tune his Gigabyte build - unless he commits to his 9700K comment - in which case we get to take the pee. :D I would buy a Zen 2 8c/16t then just for the giggles - although his build may have the early laugh. Yikes...

If you wait 2 years you'll probably be contemplating INTEL's response. So no AMD/Ryzen anecdotes to pass on to the kids - imagine having missed Athlon. History would statistically mark you down as a blueboy - well, this is how i will spin it. :D

Haha...it's probably a gene that encodes for thrift...
But yeah...most people I know had the value of money drilled into them from young...

Yeah imma see how ryzen 3000 pans out...either way...16 extra GB of ddr3 2400mhz should be pretty cheap when people start selling off their sandy/ivy/hazzy platforms...I hope.
But if ryzen 3000 is "da bomb" then I'll wait until prices stabilise before jumping in.

Lol. I had the athlon xp 2100+
Beast at the time...
Paired with a Radeon 9700...

Cheeky git. :p I am a Cornishman actually and we are even worse than the Scots when it comes to money!! I thought that pastymuncher may have been a clue to my origin.

LOL - and both equally wave their flags.

I thought that pastymuncher may have been a clue to my origin.
I put that down to the drunken stupor and your love of deep frying everything :D (<---- very much a joke)

Always thought your name was a bit of an oxymoron - have thought of asking a number of times but never seemed to be in the right thread. :)

>moved from nearly incoherent to totally incoherent :D<
Lucky guy, both fantastic locations - my brother has recently moved to Loch Gilphead, i'm yet to make the 7 hour journey.

Have you had a heads up, Orbi (E3)? :)

haha, been trying to get some details on ryzen before e3 but been to busy in work catching up . should have wired off emails on friday but was swamped with new lego and trying not to let the 2 yr old eat or hid it !
16 core... you'll be wanting a 360 aio or Dark Rock Pro ! if PSU uses Separate rails like bequiets flagship does, handle for dual 8 Pin CPU power sockets :)

Reads like you're still overwhelmed - hope your wifey has picked up, bud. I know only too well how difficult it is juggling job, a scary sick space hopper a.k.a. wife (she liked the name :)) and a toddler that's sole purpose seems to be to try and run into every sharp corner you haven't protected. :/

Sounds - like an animal!!!

Only, 8c/16t for me - so i'll be sticking to my bricks :). May get another Dark Rock Pro 4 - I missed out on a new one on the MM by seconds the other day for £37... :/
