What Graphics Card for £300?

Thats hard to get right as we all got diff volumes, unless of coarse you make something to compare it too along with it.

No, but it is very loud, I'll show a vid of it at 100%, at 30% ir 35% its as loud as an 8800GTS cooler at 100%.

Must their always be arguments about the HD2900XT and the 8800GTS? :( :(

There will always be arguments about anything people feel passionate about and have an opinion... graphics cards are no different.

You have up too £300 to spend ?
TBH theres only one answer for the time being, get another £20 together and buy a GTX ;)
I have both a GTX and a HD2900, and forced to use just one I wouldn't hesitate in the desicion.

Personally I reckon unless he uses a 24" screen a 640MB 8800GTS would be the best buy... and save £100 for when the next-gen arrive in a few months. No use forking out top whack this late in the day imo.

, DX is backawards compatible as always.

There is no reason not to buy a Nvidia on todays market.

Dx10 isn't backwards compatible, thats why Vista has to have both Dx10 and Dx9. :)

Thank god it never goes over the 40% then eh? ;)

Yea lol, 37% seems to be what it tops out at, and thats still pretty loud, if I do a vid of it in game you'll be able to hear it revving up.

@ LoadsaMoney, The 8800 card is backwards compatible with DX9C, and any other DX, I was not talking about at software level as Vista uses DX9L and DX10.

Some guy above tried to make out the 8800 is some botch up card that is not a real DX10 card.

I see now, i read it wrong, my apologies, and your right the 8800 is not a botch job, if it was then the 2900 would also be a botch job, as that can run Dx9/8/7 etc... as well. :p
