What graphics card to get for £155

I'm always like this when I go out shopping!

No chance, I don't wanna risk it. I'm sticking with the Pro definately. Just been reading this review on the ULTIMATE. The HIS comes out on top for almost everything except wattage which is hardly noticable anyway. Its cooler, faster and a better performer.

Im in the same boat m8, got around that sort of price tag to spend, but im buying an extra 1gig and have just dicided on getting the Sapphire X1950 Pro Ultimate, mainly becuase of the review in the quote. In the performance section as stock, its a tiny bit behind the HIS card but when overclock easily comes out on top. Sounds like my kinda of card, so thanks for sharing that review with me helped me out a lot there :)

Shame the card dosent look very swarve and stylish. Basic as.

On Performance, Noise, and temperature the HIS wins. There's 18*C temperature difference when both cards are loaded.. the ULTIMATE being the card with the highest temp.

Based on that I would go for the HIS mate, it has a less noisy cooler which is also keeping the card cooler, and its also better in games - thats even @ stock before overclocking!

Hmm never looked at the temps...seem abit insane, and are you buying this one? HERE because that will actually be saving me money...if you are talking about the one in the link i may go for that one...I do enjoy cheaper, even if it is by £10 :p

I was gonna go for the 512MB mate. The I'm sendin back is a Gecube 512MB. I would have gone for that X1950XT even though it was 256MB but the temps and noise put me off!!

Ive heard there isnt much differance between the 256 and 512mb cards...wasting money possibly...

Could be right, hm I wonder if there are any benchmarks between 256MB and 512MB versions... try and have a scout see if you can find any!

cool, lol good luck m8. Im still tossing up between HIS, Sapphire Ultimate and just added the XFX 7900GS XXX, Mem 1600 MHz, GPU 600 MHz to the equasion :p cant find any reviews on it thought :( not the XXX version anyways..

Sime: check this out - 256MB vs 512MB Analysis. Very interesting article I have just read.

Based on that I would lean towards 512MB, as the writer says in the report and from the evidence its no definate conclusion that you need 512MB. Some games utilise more RAM and also system ram as you see in those benchmark pictures. I think that as we enter a new year more RAM will probably be needed in games. It does seem its used greater @ higher resolutions though, depends on what resolution you game at. I game @ 1280, 1600.

Yep very interesting read mate. Still not any further on deciding whuch card im gonna get...I hate all this buying new graphics card stuff...I may just get the HIS X1950 Pro 256mb (£130) and just get a 8800 when prices have dropped and Crysis is nearing...Im sure that an extra 1gb of ram and that graphics card should handle everything up until that point...

Yeah, It's a pain in the backside with all the cards they release - deciding which one to get. I rekon thats your best bet, whatever you decide a X1950 Pro is an impressive card and it should give great performance!

P.S. I'm getting the HIS 512MB! :p

Changed my mind again mate...lol. Decided to get a Gainward Geforce 7950GT 256MB suppose to be absolutly brilliant. £160, bit over budget but Im happy with it as a choice...
