I remember a time where the likes of Loadsamoney and ulfhedjin used to post in here. It was a forum full of information and advice on questions.

Now it's full of people constantly flaming each other, It has IMO become quite a joke.

Would giving the Graphics forum individual sub sections help things at all?

It shouldn't realy need that step but the constant bickering and bitching is just stupid. Is this forum full of five year olds or something? as it seems that way. If you're confused as to what I'm talking about, then take 5 minutes out of your time to read this thread.
Flame me at will! I've got my jacket ready.

Haha it's just people getting hormonal around card launch dates, it happens a couple of times a year, think of it as the forum having the painters in.

I've spoken to him about people asking where he is but sadly, he left due to the way the GC forum has gone. Ulfhedjinn I assume the same, not seen him for a while.

Tom|Nbk gave up with it too. Sadly the best posters are leaving and being replaced with kids.

If you created 2 sub section, where would you put the threads with people asking about amd card x and nvidia card y in z price bracket?

I'd argue it's not really kids as much as it is immature hammer legion members from either camp.

in a combined section. overclockers.com forums have done this for years and when i frequented there, it worked quite well.

but yes, this forum needs some serious hardline moderating i think.

That's what is lacking & the newer members roll around in some kind of candy **** BS social title tattle. :(
This is not a section i often contribute to but i Always browse & read up on GFX cards as it's just one of those things i can read about all day. Recently I've found myself constantly cross checking against other sources as those here are just not reliable any more. :(
It's a crying shame that the bickering argumentative ******* now out weigh the knowledge base that once was.
I have never understood brand loyalty so I'll never understand the BS.

There is one argument (not saying it's right). That you don't even need a GC forum. As a lot of the questions seem to revolve around "I have x amount of money, what's the best GC". The answer is really easy ... read a few test articles and make an informed decision yourself. Because once you post a question like this, it doesn't usually take long before it dissolves into a slanging match. Though I suppose you could easily extend this idea to all the forums and then we would have nothing left.

Sounds like I'm being facetious but I am sort of trying to make a point here.

I said exactly that a few months back and got laughed at - it's not a decent source of information for new comers and even regulars anymore, because the kids and a lot of frequenters are more interested in throwing insults, whether its at the companies or at each other, than anything else.

Its actually very little to do with brand loyalty (see post one above). Its not even down to the fanboys, sure theres some zealous fanboys from each camp but they are mostly harmless.

I miss Loadsamoney's posts, I didn't talk to him much but found his posts not only interesting but very informative. He still posts in here just very sparingly I think.

I learnt a lot from certain individuals that used to post here back when I started posting here, who long stopped posting due to the crap they'd get for having an opinion.

OP picks one thread out where 90% of it is good discussion, the OP seems to believe the forum is full of flaming and the like, I don't see this at all, please point me in the direction of this bad forum etiquette so I can judge for myself. Mountain out of a mole hill>>

Loadsa frequents Guru3D GFX forum which has the biggest amount of fanboys on the net, so to say he does not post on here because of it is a bit rich.

I honestly think people now find debating offensive. I don't get it, this is a discussion forum, if we were agreeing about everything then it wouldn't be a discussion would it?

I think the real problem is the misinformation going around, and considering this place really did used to be a source of information, it highlights that point, there's too many trolls interested in making things up and baiting people.

Theres a difference between healthy debate and what often happens here where it turns into borderline personal attacks, snide comments and so on when someone doesn't like someone elses opinion.

Come on there is constant bickering every day in lots of different threads on here.

I do agree at times there is good discussion but not that often imo

As said there needs to be some heavy moderating in this section

There seems to be a thread like this every few months or so... maybe there should be a sticky at the top of the forum stating that all the respected knowledgeable people that used to frequent the forum are long gone but you can probably get a reasonably entertaining argument should you wish?
