What have I broken? Sideways into kerb at 30mph...

Angels and ministers of grace, defend us....(Hamlet, Act 1, Scene 4)

How the hell d'you lose control of a diesel Rover 400 with 'MG' branded tat stuck on anyway? You've got to either drive like a complete **** or be running Ditchfinder Specials on each corner, surely.

I think OcUK will have the remains of far too many jigged MGs on it's hands by the end of this year :p

Lol, should have expected these replies :p

The suspension is the same, I checked. The tyres on the front were Champiro somthing or others, they seemed good enough until they let go of the road...

It was a dual carriageway, so no one else around thank god. Can someone refresh my memory about who DannyW was, I remember it but not sure why :p

Anyway, is there a chance the subframe needs swapping out, or should the suspension sort it? It's a bit of a sod to swap the subframe, that's all :o

Shock horror, crap tyre seemed good until actually required to be good. Just count yourself lucky they only let you down like that and not when you needed to brake in an emergency or something. Get some decent tyres and stop driving like a pleb.

Anything will seem good until it's shown to be bad though really. A 500W Q-Tec PSU seems 'good enough' until it catches fire and destroys your PC.

And this is why user reviews on tyres are not worth the bandwidth they consume.

Had you asked him yesterday to review his tyres he'd probably have been pretty complimentary..

I overcooked an island in my s13 on a frosty winters evening and after an epic battle with the steering wheel to try and 'save' it, resulted in a 270* spin and some 'intamacy' with a curb.

Rear wheel looked like this / after. A visual inspection revealed a bent lower suspension arm. Replaced it with a new item and it still wasnt right. Something else was bent/twisted. Replaced entire rear sub frame and all associated suspension arms from another (straight) car in the end which seemed to fix it.

Good luck.

Don't go blaming the tyres. My car has horrible ditch finders on which will easily go into ice-rink mode on a wet road yet I've never crashed my car. If the driver has a feel for the grip level and an understanding of the tyre limitations then there won't be a problem.

As for user reviews of tyres, same thing applies really. They are very useful, when coming from a driver who understands what makes a good tyre. You just have to choose carefully who you listen to.

could have bent the subframe, though chances are the full corner will need changed. If there are no signs of what part is damaged it could have easily caused small problems on all of them. I hit a kerb in my ctr resulting in the same thing - wheel in at the bottom, out at top. Insurance changed the shock, spring, wishbone, wheel hub, and track rod end. Fortunatly the sub frame was fine.

I can see your logic, problem is with better tyres he would have been going faster when he hit the kurb, i'm not saying thats a bad point on the tyres, more the attitude of the driver.

Why, would better tyres improve his acceleration?

He doesn't sound like he drives to meet the capabilities of his car and tyres so I'd imagine he drives everywhere as fast as he can anyway.
