What have you done to your car today?

For those of you expecting me to have perished in something befitting of a Final Destination sequel, today I replaced that rotten n/s caliper and fitted new guide pins, lines flushed, handbrake adjusted. After the state the last one got into, this one has multiple coats of VHT, the others will get the same later this week, in the mean time i'm rocking a single red calliper... because that's just how I roll.

Tomorrow (weather permitting) it's Bilstein day. I have a nasty feeling i'll be pulling the lot apart again to fit H&R springs, but i'll see how things are with OE spring's first. Also need to pick up some shot blasting kit (part of the reason I haven't tackled the other callipers yet) and price up outsourcing powder coating... or brake it to the wife we're getting a new oven, and it's not for the kitchen. On reflection, perhaps the Final Destination option is less fraught with danger?

thought I'll ask here...

anyone with window tints all around(other than front windshield) ?

what % did you go for ? obviously staying "legal" at the front side windows but wonder what did you go for rear/rear sides.

20% all round and 70% on windshield :D

I can't even tell I have anything on the windshield but it stops so much heat coming in. Well worth doing. You can get 90% too which just stops infrared/uv.

Be careful adding ANY tint to the front side windows if you want to stay legal. There are no restrictions to transmissivity apart from the front side and front windows, so you could paint the back windows black and be perfectly legal.

The standard "clear" glass will already block a fairly significant portion of the light from being transmitted and adding any additional tint will likely put you over the legal limit.

My first Corolla had black-out tints on the rear and rear quarter windows, and 20% on the front windows I believe. Very much illegal. :p

The rear tints were annoying as you couldn't see when reversing in the dark, but I quite liked the sun blocking effect of the front tints. Shame its illegal. Looking back through pictures I think the windscreen probably had a slight tint too.

Yeah I'd get proper advise to stay in the legal zone. I'm not too fussed about reversing at night because the reverse camera does most of the job so a bit of a tint is not an issue, it's mostly about blocking the sun

You can pretty much not any ANY tint to the windscreen and front side windows if you want to stay legal. Rear side & rear window you can tint the hell out of and it's a non-issue.

70% of light from the sides I'm sure you can get some? Isn't factory on most cars 5-10% barely a UV filter ?

Finished off drilling out my snapped exhaust manifold studs. Car all back together now. Only cost me £20 in parts but took a good few hours of careful drilling to make sure i didn't ruin the threads. Saab is now boosting as it should do!

Thats a funky exhaust manifold! Is it in two parts? Cylinders 2/3 and 1/4?

It is a single cast but most twin scroll cars are like that although the Saab's turbo in not twin scroll. I guess it helps with lag though non the less. The Celica's manifold is exactly the same although that is a twin scroll turbo.
