What have you done to your car today?

I saw that. He's rigged the shock bit it up to the handle, but that seems kind of pointless since any thief with even half a brain would be wearing gloves anyway. The sirens would do it though.

Did a bit on the tvr this afternoon.

Siliconed up 3 or 4 old screw holes near the battery and a little gap where the steering column passes through the body. I'm hoping one of those was responsible for the half inch of water in the drivers footwell after the recent storms!

Replaced the mouse-chewed rubber gear stick gaiter - no more roasting left arm, hurrah.

Cleaned, dried and re-oiled the k&n air filter, car definitely seems to start more easily now.

Tightened up a loose bolt on the steering universal joint which seems to have cured the rattle at about 60mph.

Switched the gear box oil from ATF to MTF and chucked in some Wynn's stop leak as it seems to be weeping a little. Still getting a bit of a whine from somewhere but I felt like it was a decent bit quieter. Placebo maybe, time will tell.

Put the hood down and chucked it down a few lanes in the evening sunshine. Glorious! Feels good to have started fixing a few niggles. Not sure if I'm just getting used to it or if it's appreciating getting used more but it feels a little better every time I drive it.

Upgraded the climate control

I know. I could just do everything apart from the bumpers, but it would look wrong to anyone "in the know" and people who arent in the know won't give a monkeys cuss if it is badged one way or the other.

I do intend to re-paint the whole car though and I will paint the bumpers body coloured, like the Nippa GX (the "fancy" one which came with a radio and stuff) :p

Why?

Why do you insist on driving depressingly boring bone stock cars and deride anyone who dares do differently?

It's a Perodua Nippa. It's a fairly reasonable question :D

Isn't it the car Clarkson bought new in one of his videos and then smashed up outside the dealership for being so bad?

Actually it was the successor but even so, I don't think the boring car insult is the right one under the circumstances :D

He's planning on spending a reasonably significant sum of money on what was, when new, an absolutely dire car. It is an utter waste of time, money and resources. So it really does beg the question of 'why'?

Rattle canning a pair of bumpers is hardly a huge sum of money, it's a cheap car to help a friend get driving experience in, and to have a laugh with. Cheap to buy, cheap to mod, don't have to worry about the resale or financial impact - it's the perfect car to muck around with and not have to give a hoot about.

I suggest you re-read his post.

Took the car to garage at 8.30 this morning for MOT - Sitting here waiting for phone call to go pick it up (pass or fail) is worse than waiting at the dentist :(

Worth checking online, I find garages often don't get around to calling for hours after actually doing the mot.

Passed MOT - one advisory same as last year - I have a sunvisor strip along top of windscreen - done with Limo tint - It is about 4" above my sight line so MOT mechanic must be 6ft tall.

I take mine to the local village garage - no problems with them not ringing.

Uh, I have a box of rattle cans left over from painting other shiz... So painting it is costing me effectively £0... I have spent a grand total of £20 on the car so far, a pair of plates, and a replacement mirror. Shock!! :p

Stop being so sensitive you lot. So far it has cost me £270. :p
