What have you done to your car today?

diecast metal fobs can be soldered, or JB metal weld ... have a keyfob of sentimental value I need to fix....but doesn't the bmw warranty cover it ?

Pulled the washer reservoir which had a lot of gunk from a previous algae attack ....fairly painless .... cleaned out with long brush...
law of unintended consequences seems to be more pressure at the windscreen nozzles now,
and dammit, some leak on the adjacent underside of bonnet from the connected tubing that I now need to debug.
 
Volvo specialist says no leak in the AC system after a pressure and Dye test, and £35 later with a re-gas it is now nice and cold! Woot!

Says to keep an eye out for it just in case but it’s the best news I’ve had all day!

And damn Kwik fit, whatever they did, they flushed out all the remaining gas in the system before.

Had to bolt back on a panel underneath my truck today - found by pure luck when I had it jacked up to inspect the ball joints - fortunately not critical but not ideal with it being held on by only 1 of the 3 screws. Sadly it is yet another instance that looks like whoever prepped the vehicle for sale did a shoddy job - leaves me wondering what else I will find.

Previously found a screw fastening missing on a panel on the tailgate - seems that it was removed for inspection and at some point while fixing it back one of the screws fell down inside and rather than open it up again to sort they just left it with one screw out and loose inside. While I can't be certain I have a picture from before they made it ready for sale which appears to show it in place.

Under seat storage tray that was held in place by 1 screw which was only half in and the other just left in the storage tray - almost certainly done while they were prepping it as it wasn't like that when I looked at the vehicle to buy it as underseat storage was one of the areas that was important to me.

Glad I got this thing cheap.

aren't you going to complain to Kwik Fit ... at least a refund of their fee on presentation of the volvo bill ?
... £35 doesn't sound much more that a kwik fit re-gas anyway .. but maybe the hassle of getting to volvo is the negative.

Kwik Fit didn't charge me anything and if anything, Kwik Fit re-gas was £60, whereas Volvo is £35.
 
Picked it up from it's MOT, passed with flying colours.

2007 Volvo T5 with 110k on the clock, only ever failed 2 MOT's, one on tyres before I got it and the other a number plate bulb.

Either I got lucky with this car, or everything on it is about to drop off any day now :D

Had the Focus up on the jacks today - The alloys are 10 yrs old and hit a lot of potholes - I had wheels balanced the other week and there is still a slight judder on steering wheel so off came the wheels and tested each one on front with engine running and it in gear just to find the two with the least buckle.

While there I bled all the brakes and now have a very solid brake pedal and no shimmy on steering wheel -very productive day but it doesn't do my body much good.

That's a nice and shiny Mustang :D
 
Fitted new wipers on the Celsior. Customised a pair I bought for another car but never fitted... One had the wrong clip type, so I swapped it from the old wiper, the other was too long so I removed the end caps, cut it down to size, and put the end caps back on. You'd never know it had been done. :p

Had a look at the parking pole, decided I couldn't be bothered with it because there was a really awkward bolt so I just clipped it up out of the way.

Removed the bodgery on the front undertray (cable ties and sealant) and cleaned it up and affixed it with the proper screws, trimmed the front edge off where it had been scraping.

Fixed the "low screen wash" warning by giving the sensor a whack with the end of a spanner.

Replaced a rear numberplate light to clear the "rear light out" warning.

Now only have the one Japanese warning to contend with which is rear brakes. Got those in the boot when I bought the car, so will do that ASAP.

Oh and I boned the bumper trying to drive it up on my low car ramps. Turns out its too low for low car ramps.
