Few updates here, converted to powerspark electronic ignition which solved my no spark issue, and it runs now!
Removed the float bowl lid and lapped it and installed it with a new gasket with a thin layer of permatex aviation form-a-gasket 3 on each side, now waiting for it to fully cure. Hoping that stops a bad leak I had from there.
Fitted my high power sports coil.
And the thing I'm most proud of, I needed a fuel filter, so I went digging through the shed and found a spare MX5 fuel filter, which I managed to mount on the 'firewall shelf' using the bracket from the old coil, and the existing holes from the heater blower motor bracket. A total random assortment of rubbish that ended up working perfectly. Can see it on the top right by the washer bottle. The inlet and outlet are also perfectly placed for some tidy hose runs, and the barb diameter is correct!
Can't remember what I've posted in here, but also have fitted the washer bottle and bracket, the blanking plate over the old heater box hole, the choke cable, and painted up the battery to look period correct(ish). And obviously the big SU carb, alloy intake manifold, cable throttle conversion...
Still waiting on my silicone/carbon leads. Once those are on I can try and start it again!
Somehow things get quickly out of hand whenever I get a new (or very old in this case) car.
Tomorrow I might change the front brake hardline and hose.
