What have you done to your car today?

Wheels certainly look very shiny, can also speak highly of Wheel Woolies although my large one also loses fluff on the brake shields quite often.

Not sure about that footwear for cleaning the car however... :p

Did a full clean for winter. Started off with a clean with washing up liquid, clayed (using a mitt - which was so much better to use than traditional clay), polished with the rotary polisher and then finished off with Colinite. First time using a traditional wax - found it quite weird at first as it felt like I was smearing butter on the car. Has come up really nicely though:

Got in car, tire pressure warning... uh oh!

Big framing nail about an inch from the sidewall, quick stop at Auto Zone for a plug kit and 20 minutes = 1 usable tire again.

Careful using washing up liquid... the chemicals can/will cause damage...

Even a cheap car wash will be much better...

Wheel looks great mrk!

I too use Wheel Woollies and I think they're fantastic tools. I also noticed that the big one tends to lose a lot of it's fluff doing the inner barrel of the wheel (scraping it between the brake shield and the wheel) so now I use the medium one (which is stiffer anyway) to do the inner of the wheel and use on the big one only on the spokes and the outside of the wheel. It suffers much less here as there are no small spaces for it to have to squeeze through.

The small use I use to do between the callipers and the wheel, then I use a smaller brush to do the wheel nuts, around the valve stem and the callipers themselves.

Yeah I'm going to start using the medium one for the inner barrel now too, it scrubs better too so the large one can just be for the outer bits. Sadly the small one is too big to fit between the spokes, so I too have to use the little brush for those areas!

Did the interior too, roof down means lots of dust after a few days, so gotta keep on top of that.

I assume the only reason he used washing up liquid was that it would completely strip all wax etc already on the car so he could start fresh.

Ordered the parts to replace some creaking front lower control arm bushes.

Ended up buying the stabiliser links and anti-roll bushes for the front and rear too.

Trying to decide if i should buy some 25mm springs to take a little arch gap out, not sure if it's worth it.

Purchased a new Nissens radiator for the E46 after the cheapo replacement the garage fitted just over a year ago started leaking from both the input and return hoses. Haven't changed it yet but I'm guessing the welds are crap and have popped slightly.

Also picked up a set of Bilstein B4's on the eBay 20% offer, should be a nice replacement from the horrid Monroe ones that are on there now, shouldn't have listened to forums when I bought them ages ago.

Absolutely, this. Made sure it was all rinsed off quickly, but I have to say it works really well.

Which decontamination and claying would do anyway...

I see the point, just too frequent use can cause long-term damage (and surprisingly quickly) as it'll go deeper than just the wax layer...

If you want to remove wax then don't mess around just use wax and grease remover.
FWIW though, fairy isn't going to harm car paint even if you use it all the time.

Yes, fairy will harm the paint, it eats away at the coats / oils quite viciously... may not be noticeable for 1-3 years though ;)

Checked the coolant and oil - still the same amount - and soon to be looking at a mates car to see where his keeps going.

Decided the golf is staying off the road until next year and i'm going to get it the best I can cosmetic wise as I can't afford a full respray :(

Sanded back, the inside of the door, primed and ready for paint tomorrow.

And the boot also, as it was all scratched and looked horrible.
