what headphones do you own thread - i own dt150's :)

I am still waiting for reply on the adaptor as well, let me know how you get on mate.

Thanks for the heads up mate, appreciate it.

Will do. I have been using a mic from another headset (Sennheiser PC31) for the time being.

I have found an XLR mini to female, but its a 1 foot cable instead of the straight adapter. Probably wouldnt work too well as would need to be tied up and add too much weight on the left side

Nice one, will check this out =)

Ive been reading about this mod. Interesting post #353

To me the bass sounds great on the 702s so will be leaving them as they are for now. Don't want to mess with how something was supposed to sound - the reason I generally hate changing EQ, adding DSP effects or enabling anything other than 'reference' / 'default' settings. That said, in gaming using certain boosts like treble helps gameplay

That's good to know in case we can't get one from the two lads in Essex. =)

What settings do you use for gaming?

I use Xonar Audio Centre - Uni drivers - Low DPC latency. 2 speakers, headphone mode. haven't messed with the EQ yet as haven't had time to test these properly yet.

Thanks again pal

Yep, backup solution I guess. I also order a female 3.5mm to female 3.5mm adapter as there seem to be some adapters/cables that convert to 3.5mm male only. This would also add weight though

Driver, im using Version 8.1.8.1823 with Asus Xonar Essence ST Audio Center (0.3.0.68) from here https://www.asus.com/us/Essence-Hi-Fi-Audio/Xonar_Essence_ST/HelpDesk_Download/

2 channel mod,PCM 192 Khz, Headphone out on High gain setting (+12dB) I tried Dolby headphone, 7.1 virtual speaker and Dolby Pro logic IIx. Dolby headphone seems quite nice but for music it just sort of adds an echo, even more so with 7.1 or Pro Logic.
I'll stick with no DSP for now.

The only game I'm currently playing is COD MW. I have been playing around with in game settings like changing from studio reference to home theatre but it makes the voice comms too low so I can't hear them. Boost high works quite well as im aiming to hear footsteps over 'gas is coming' and other things like loud heli sounds

akg 701 vs 702 anyone experience with this ? or anyone with beyer 770s vs the akgs mentioned.thanks.
Do you mean about setting software DSPs and the like? I imagine most enthusiast 702 and 770 users will not use software junk to change how sound was supposed to originally sound

I want cheap but good wireless headphones. Under £40.....help!
Sorry, these don’t exist

You might be able to get some under £40 but they certainly won’t be ‘good’

I suppose ‘good’ is subjective though

Could try the Doqaus bluetooth headphones which are £36.99

Looking forward to having this weekend free to properly test them out, they feel so light on my head when compared to Fidelio X2's.

Did you get a reply about an adapter?
I had a reply from Mike last Wednesday, paid for the adapter on Weds (£11+vat+£4 postage - £18 total) and now awaiting it's delivery. £4 to deliver an adapter seems a bit steep, bet it didnt cost £4 to post. Maybe it did if they sent it 1st recorded, but have not received anything yet or any tracking info

Oh nice one, I'll have to email them again!

Cheers

This might make a few of you laugh...

I have the AKG K702s and have been playing Call of Duty, Modern Warfare with Dolby Atmos enabled and sound on quite loud.
The sound stage fantastic and quite a lot I hear in game sounds like crows and bangs that sound like they come from outside my apartment or inside the apartment when actually they are in game sounds.

There were some strange banging sounds earlier, I was playing Battle Royale solo so crouched and hid in a bathroom in a building in Farmland. No footsteps could be heard but only faint banging or crouch walking maybe.
I then get a hand on my shoulder from my girlfriend and I almost jumped out of my skin... it was her in the wardrobe behind me looking for something :D I wish I was wearing my Garmi HR monitor as it would have hit maybe 200!

Just got the audio technica msr7bs a very nice improvement over my daily AKG K550s, prefer closed cans since I can enjoy music or tv night or day without sound leakage, they are the best closed cans I have heard yet.

Does anyone have any experience with balanced headphone amps and balanced cables vs non balanced and if its worth the upgrade ?

I figured out a slightly messy and more weighty way of using AKG headphones with boomPro mics or anything else that needs a 3.5mm male connection. This is instead of using a Mini-3-Pin-XLR-Female-TA3-to-3-5mm-Jack-Socket

Just get a 3.5mm female to 3.5mm female adapter and connect the end of the AKG headphone to it, then the end what would go into the headphones into the other side...

Stick it over your head and it works fine. Mic, headphones, mute and volume control all working great

I have some 550's but not used them in ages as they seem to me to be very high treble whick i find makes them not so nice to listen with

It's a common issue with headphones in general, sometimes treble can cause some harshness or brightness, you could try changing the pads or the tissue mod which helps reduce out that brightness.

I did not need to do this with my K550s but I had the revised 3.0s and also upgraded to sheepskin leather brainwavz pads, id try the tissue mod since its free and some basic diy.

Thanks for that R3X, I'll give that a go :).

OK so I used the tissue method and it worked a treat :)...in fact I actually used two wet wipes dried out in the dryer :).
