what headphones do you own thread - i own dt150's :)

I've now ordered some too. Just want to see how I get on with the larger cup sizes.
I'll be using them with a Xonar Essence.
If they are comfy I will look into Mic options, at the moment I am thinking (based on multiple responses on here) a small adapter and the V-MODA BoomPro. The BoomPro appears to have mute and volume controls which are useful, isnt too expensive and won't add much cable bulk.

Yeah good choice mate, they are decent cans and many people have/or had them in their headphone collection.

Let us know how you get on with them ;)

They will sort you out. Cracking little adapter.

They were great when I got mine about 2 or 3 years ago. Still working perfectly now.

In fact, all this talk of the K702 and adaptor made me dig mine out again - forgot how good they were for gaming so will be using as my main set for the time being. Had some Dekoni Nuggets which I've added to the headband for extra comfort also.

My comment above about the Vmoda being a bit low is pretty much irrelevant tbh - 1) you can angle the mic capsule up slightly and from my testing on PS4, it has no impact on pickup/sound anyway. :)

A couple of questions for anyone with the V-MODA BoomPro, does the ''in-line mute switch and rotary volume controls'' act as mute for the attached headphones or mic? Are the volume controls for the mic volume control or attached headphone volume?

Ideally I would like the mute to be for the mic and volume to control the headphone volume ...as most headphones do not have a volume control. This would save constantly changing headphone volume in Windows / soundcard / DAC

Mute switch is to mute the mic, volume control is for the headphone volume :)

Just taken a late delivery tonight of the 702's, was expected on Wednesday.

Now to get the adaptor and some cables and pew pew :p

Let me know how comfy they are, if the earcups are big enough or if they clamp your head like a vice

Just got in from work, so only had these on my head for 15 minutes but my first impressions out of the box, very nice design very lightweight, kinda of reminds of my old IceMat Siberia from about 15 years ago, but much much better, slight clamp but hardly noticeable at least for me.

Not sure how long it takes to burn these in, I'm watching YouTube using my TV to O2 Amp and K702s are sounding a little Tinny with very little bass but I didn't buy them for Music really I bought them for gaming and I am sure once I hook them up to my D2X then the O2 Amp they will sound better.

Can't wait to try them out in BF1/BFV later.

Thanks, mine should be arriving tomorrow with boompro on 20th. The adapter i am still trying to source.

Burn in on headphones? I thought that was only a myth.

I'll be mainly (only) playing COD MW with mine and music listening

Regarding 'burn in', I agree with what rids57 said about it; that it is the user becoming used to the new sound, rather than the sound of the headphones changing.

Yea - agree. Depends on what you are used to prior to the K702. They have a bottom end but it's not boosted/overblown at all so on first listen will sound thin potentially. Given the right source, there is still quality bass there. Once you've listened to them for a few days and become accustomed to them your impressions might change.

If you still feel they need a little more then I guess EQ or the 'bass port mod' will help.

Used them on Warzone last night, via a Creative G3 on PS4 and they sounded superb.

Slightly off topic, but do you have 'Studio Reference' or 'Home theatre' set in Audio settings? I read setting the home theatre option is better as footsteps are easier to hear. I tried it and they certainly are

This is intriguing me, anymore info on this?

I remember removing foam stickers on my HD555 to make them sound a little closer to the HD595, just wondering if this is same sort of procedure?

Also going to need some extension cables, worth spending top dollar to avoid any loss in sound?

cheers all

Yea - I've switched to Home Theatre this last week after using Studio Reference up until then.

Effectively just removes two circular 'sticker's - just have to be careful around the delicate wires. Results are fairly subtle but still noticeable without sacrificing the rest of the headphone's strengths :)

Do you use any software 7.1?
I can enable Dolby Virtual Speaker, Dolby 7.1 virtual speaker, Dolby headphone or Dolby Pro Logic IIx in Xonar Audio Center but have never bothered. I did test using Dolby 7.1 and it sounded a lot more '3d' but never stuck with it maybe because I just got used to how it sounded without. I'm presuming all it does it change the EQ in a certain way, I can't really work magic and add more speakers or anything :D

Mine arrived 30 mins ago. They clamp a lot less than the Sennheiser Game One, sound more open and listening to Pink Floyd The Final Cut in Flac to me they sound more open and detailed. Though have only listed to 3 or 4 tracks so far

Volume wise and driving them, they are perfectly fine left in the RCA speaker out at 60% for normal listening levels or headphone out at 60% with normal gain. Setting high gain (+12db for 64-300 ohms) at 25% or extra high gain (+18db for 300-600 ohms) at 15% all gives around the same volume levels. I'll leave them on high gain, 25% for now.

This is using a Xonar Essense ST soundcard. Just to wait for the BoomPro mic and a reply about an adapter (TA3F 3 Pin Mini XLR to 3.5mm Female)

Not to say the Sennheiser Game one sound good, they do sound good, but they just feel a lot warmer on my ears as the earpad cups are narrower and sit more on my ears. They also have more of a clamping feel which combined with the narrower cups lead to my ears hurting after around 15 mins

No.

If the cable is well made, then you'd just be spending more because a more expensive cable looks more fancy and you think it will be better because it cost more money.

There are some decent inexpensive cables about. You'd have to get poorly made cable to have any issue.

I am still waiting for reply on the adaptor as well, let me know how you get on mate.

Looking forward to having this weekend free to properly test them out, they feel so light on my head when compared to Fidelio X2's.

Thanks for the heads up mate, appreciate it.
