what headphones do you own thread - i own dt150's :)

I understand that. Well, I've improved on that front with my new system I can tell the difference in quality even with my crappy headset. I'm not discounting using an amp. For the time being I'll use my onboard soundcard (and phone when I'm out and about) and will have to go sample some external amp/dacs in future to see if I perceive a difference in quality.

Once you go to a decent External DAC you wonder why you have been listing to poop all your life...:p

Have any of you bought from massdrop, like the hd6xx / he4xx. What was your experience with shipping times?

Ordered couple of HD6xxs and HD58X and was pretty quick for me.

Looking at my transactions, from order date to delivery, longest took 10 days to arrive from date of order, but I was pretty prompt with payment of duty. Others were quicker with them arriving in 6-8 day range once ordered.

They were all in stock and ready to dispatch at time of order. This was back at end of 2018 up to mid 2019 so not sure how quick they are now and or if it may have changed.

Okay first impressions:

on my phone the volume could do with being a bit higher; okay for general use, but in an aircraft would need to go higher.
on the PC at full volume it goes pretty high, any higher would be uncomfortable. Especially with 'headphone power' set to ultimate, very loud.

Highs are great, I can make out more details listening to classic rock, especially any cymbal related sounds.

Lows are also great, not as 'thumpy' as my cheapo creatives, but that's not a bad thing; I do hate over-bass speakers/headphones. I played them back to back and my god the creative ones do sound bad (I knew that, but this just highlighted how much). Even listening to pop music there's sufficient bass to get you into the mood. Playing something with not as much 'thumpy' bass but with still lows like classical was still very defined and loud.

I noted how great separation sounds, I could definitely make individual instruments at individual drivers.

Noise isolation is great, even with the headphones on my phone I couldn't hear my gf from 1 metres talking rather loudly (bonus points here :p), although she could hear the music a bit.

I am not used to such good build quality headphones, so feel a bit of discomfort from the headband, but I'll persevere for now in the hopes that it'll get slightly softer and I'll also get used to it.

Another point to add is that instrumental jazz sounds fantastic, not that other genres aren't great on them, but jazz just shines a bit more for me.

@M1k3H

Do you find them fatiguing to listen to, I don't mean the comfort from the headband but from the sound, like it's tiring to listen to as the highs are too high for extended listening?

I have the DT 770 and I use them for Drum Recording and monitoring....They sound grainy and harsh compared the HD 650....

The DT 770 is a good phone but there are better options for not much more money....

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated :)

What would you suggest, mainly for music listening?

No, I thought they were bright enough, without being overbearing.

The HD650 are quite a lot more! What would you recommend around the price point of the DT 770s?
