) - anyway, the soundstage is much wider and nicer than the 485m the bass feels more neutral too, more natural - the 485 was a bit more up front.

My bro has ownership of the 485 now, I think it was time he replaced the Technics RPF200 I gave him 4 years ago which I had for 2 years :O

Yes the padding on the inside has worn away and the leathery padding surrounding the ear pads themselves have eroded away too!
