What is birmingham like to live in?

Haha this was so long ago.
I ended up back in london and now as above hoping to move out of the uk in the next few years.
I'm with you there. I have a place in Birmingham still but I'm spending most of my time abroad, I'm hoping to make the full time residency switch this year.

I came back to Birmingham a few weeks ago after 4 months on the road to find my bike nicked and the streets now piled high with rubbish. It's certainly embolden my decision.

Now is the winter of our discontent.

Keep it up lads, the Conservatives will be back soonest.

Doctors tick, train drivers tick, bin men who?

Council spent all the money on "diversity" projects and went broke lol.

Now it's even dirtier than it used to be. Now with added stink.

My partner lived in Edgbaston, not too far from the reservoir, for a few months when we first got together. I hated any time I went up to visit her.

This was back in 2017. I hadn't been to the Bullring since maybe the 90s so it's nice to see how much they upgraded their shopping centre (I never knew the Bullring was a Windows background) but the city itself is still a bit grim and, at least during 2017, Spice was rampant and you had all these homeless people looking like patient zeros all hunched over and motionless.

Great curry but everything else was a giant meh. I wouldn't want to live there. I also found peoples behaviour there a bit weird but maybe I'm just used to Bristol too much

Considering the OP asked the question you're responding to in 2017 (and is heading to Cyprus) I'm not sure the thread necro is necessary or relevant.

You're probably better off starting a new thread if the current state of Birmingham is concerning to you.

Oh, it wasn't so much for the benefit of the OP but just thought back to this thread when I head the news. :)

(And of course, warning people about Birmingham is an act of charity I think.)

All went downhill when Snobs moved from the Queensway
Nah, it was obviously when Mechu closed, it's lacking in places to get away from the "riff-raff".

Birmingham's just another big city, if you don't like cities you'd hate it, it's the people that bang on about Manchester being so great that amuse me.

If you like stolen, broken, HPI NOT clear cars for cheapish prices. You'll like Brum.

I cannot stand city's so I am biased.

Stupid places to drive. Because the majority of people there are just... unable to drive?

Not a massive fan, like every city there are good and bad areas but it just feels like everyone is on top of you, joined with the 'clean air' charge it's not for me.

Can concur, this is definitely true! Birmingham is definitely in a league of its own when it comes to bad driving :(

I remember going to a gig in Birmingham, and parked in some random NCP car park. As I was going down the stairs, there was a homeless person, complete with needles strewn about lying there. To be fair, he was a bit sheepish and apologised and moved out the way, but it didn't leave the greatest impression on the city.
