I have a couple of external drives but it is a pain in the arse to move things like Homebrew to them as you have to symlink and stuff and I'd rather just not bother.
I should probably move my virtual machines though. That is quick and easy.

That would be the easy one, yes.
I specced my M1 Ultra with 2Tb, up from 1Tb on the iMac it replaced.

design change for the macbook pro's maybe, thinner would be nice

I feel like we only just got decently thick MacBook Pros after Apple’s crazy quest for thinness took away ports and gave us terrible keyboards and middling battery.
