What is "Fast"?

I didn't say it left me for dead, I said he passed me like I was barely moving at 90-100MPH.

Same point though, surely? If you are doing 100mph and something passes you 'like you are barely moving' thats some considerable difference, right? So it's doing WELL over 100mph.

He's said it left him from 100+. However, if he did know how fast the M3 was going then maybe he'd state it?

Why do you not understand this?.

Why don't you? How do you pass a car doing 100mph as if its barely moving without travelling considerably faster?

from a 40-50MPH rolling start, my friend in his E46 M3 failed to pass me until 90-100MPH. But as you'd expect, the M3 passed me like I was barely moving once we hit 90-100.

No, I've never been under the impression that an ST is faster than an M3 - give me more credit than that.

This was on a dual carriageway, its not like he had to have the stones to pull out and make sure he could get past you, he just had to hang there at the side of you. So at the very least you were side by side or faster?

You also say that you hit 100mph and he "passed you like you were barely moving". What sort of speed differential does that take? 30mph seems like a good place to start to me!

I said that I concluded my ST was atleast fairly quick to 100 based on my experience with the E46 M3.

I then claimed that its possible that perhaps it wasn't making its standard power anymore, and thus may not have been doing its book figures.

I used its later HGF as an example to Invader after he stated that no E46 M3 would have engine problems because everyone looks after them.

Simples?

You're all now disputing what I'm saying based on a completely subjective statement. 'passing me like I'm not moving' could be 50 & 130mph to one person, or 90 and 110 to another with a bit of poetic licence.

Also, I've said 90-100MPH all along, go check.

You're right on that. Unless the other driver lifts off, or the car develops a fault, limiting it's speed to below that of 100mph.

I've passed vehicles at high speed and been passed by others at high speed. Another car has to be going considerably faster (especially past a petrol head) to 'go past like I was barely moving'.

Using an example of HGF a year after the event does not show a car wasn't looked after and was putting out massively below stock power.

LOL, you're still failing to understand. I used it as an example to show that looked after M3s can have engine problems, thus countering your statement saying that E46 M3s are looked after and would not have engine problems.

I've only read a few of the first pages and this last one, is it safe to assume the M3 driver simply missed a gear, then selected the correct gear and nailed it past mike?

It still doesn't confirm your opinion that the M3 wasn't looked after and down on power at the time of your race though does it. You have to agree with me on that one. ;)

But I still stand by the fact that the M3 would have been looked after as nobody spunks £12k+ (if it was a year ago then £15k+) on an M3 and doesn't look after it. HGF can happen on a car that is perfectly maintained as I've stated earlier.

I never said this M3 wasn't looked after, I used the example to say its possible, thus confirming its possible this one could have been down on power slightly for another reason. Ie. demonstrating that cars can be down on power for any number of reasons. Get it?

I still want to know how you got those acronyms with PeterNem.

I am a mole and I live in a hole. Ba ba ba ba!

Basically, this thread has spilled onto a local and very private forum, and things from said private forum have ended up on this thread.

Therefore there is an unannounced mole, I just want to know who it is, and if I know them :)
