What is it with peoples fixation with snow?

It's British to bemoan and lament the weather. Nothing more to it apart from some inner childhood glee when things get snowy or whatever.

The way the snow reflects the light means that all the shadows diffuse and things look pretty.
You can throw and mould it.
It brings back memories.
New sports are possible - well only sledging in England.

That said it is a right pain for transport, cycle paths don't tend to be gritted either

I love snow, winter and the cold. All the best food, can wear winter clothes, long nights and everything feels cleaner.

Where i come from snow is a rule, not an exception. Here, in UK, however, i'd change grey/soaking-wet with white/cold any day of the grey/soakingwet... :D

Running diesel car in cold is a pain though...

Because it rains for 364 days a year?

It hasn't snowed like this for almost 3 years here, makes a hell of change from the rain.

Plus it's gorgeous to look at. Ever seen a field of clean snow drifts across a field? Ice crystals that shimmer like a millionfold myriad tiny diamonds. Nothing like going for a walk in clean, crisp snow that crunches underfoot.
