It seems to just sit on the air filter and is just a hollow box by the looks of it?!

Any ideas? BTW the car is a Ford Ka.

That is the resonator for the airbox i think. Just liek the one i have on my Focus. Follow where the air goes into the airbox, if that part goes into the airbox before the air is filter, take the resonator off and rev the engine. :cool:

ahhh lol, i read your post to that guy about his focus and i wanted to see if i had one! Does it matter if its on or not?

Well, I'd say so. Or else Ford wouldn't of fitted one in the first place.

As long as its before the air is filtered then it doent matter having it on or off one bit.

All it does is make the engine quieter when you put down large amounts of throttle. When you normally cruise it is no louder, or you cant hear it.

Then it has a purpose, and is needed for that.

If he wants his engine to be louder at full throttle, by all means he can leave it off.

Ford stick Duratec on everything these days.

Even the 'Duratec ST and Duratec RS' which are really Zetec engines.

Around 2002 i think the 1.3 lump got updated to the Duratec. Taking it from 59bhp to 69bhp at the same time and getting better mpg.
