What is so special about Counter-Strike?

I like it because you can be really bad, like me, then suddenly go on a killing spree of like 4+ people, which keeps you going in css.

Also the reasons mentioned above.
 
I play this game too much, and I love it. You can tell from the hours I play here, although I have not played much this week:

I usually play the game in a team, normally 5v5's.

I find it pretty boring, you spawn, choose a few weapons, go out there, either get killed by a 15 year who plays too much, or manage to kill one or two people. Round ends, rinse and repeat.

I love it and I usually only play Office!

It's fast, fun, not full of nobs like MW, lots of banter.

Gungame maps and other custom maps are a lot of fun to play on.

so you dont play any mp game then considering they all have hackers?

your reasoning is horrid - you dont like the buy system , yet its server specific some have no seconds others have 10 seconds etc, and you know what you want weapon wise and simply select it all , its really not that hard!

and the gameplay? the fact that you clearly didnt even bother trying to location one of two bomb sites on a map that is pretty small just shows how little you must have played.

there are no tricks in css, its all about positioning , and your actual skill - sorry if thats a little hard for you to understand.
 
I like the simplicity of it. If I have limited time and not enough to allow me to immerse myself in a single player game then being able to hop on to css for an hour is great. Hope to see some of you on the UKCS Office server 3. ;)
 
What is so special about Counter-Strike?

IMO when it first came out there was nothing else like it, it just hit the right spot at the right time. It looked, ran and played great.

it's plain and simple :p

there's no gimmicks no fancy crap just good old skill vs skill.


That and it's not as fast as some of the older games (quake/ut etc) and no need for fancy jumping/dodging skills so has a broader appeal.
 
It can be great fun but at the same time very annoying and I think thats what makes it addictive. One minute you could be doing 3 headshots and get a massive adrenaline boost but the next minute you die from something stupid and it fuels you to play another round.

My personal fav mp game for fps was mohaa sh. Good fun in that, i know u can hack in it too but i used to play a server that was anti hack aware so were generally ok with the no hackers coming on.

I couldn't disagree more. The buy system is great and very simple to master, so much so my 14 year old niece figured it out. After a couple of games you should be able to buy your hardware without looking at the screen. using B then the number relating to the weapon.

Game play is very simple too. This is one of the reasons it's so popular after so many years. After a few hours it's second nature to send a warning message to your team while throwning a flashbang.

Sounds like you went on a server expecting to own yet got owned and then wanted to rant. There's loads of readme's online and dedicated forums. Such a shame you couldn't figure it out as it's a great game as most people will agree.

Dont be belittling me like that.

I guess i just didnt like the setting and gameplay. Mohaa sh is more for me, simple, fast pace. 2 sides, great maps, freezer tag gameplay in team vs team.

@ orange. I went on a few times when i installed it. First i hated the buy system and the short time it gives u as theres a lot to look through iirc. Why couldnt it just be choosen before the match starts like in player setup or somit. Next people just seemed to do random stuff and map is over without me seeing the enemy sometimes iirc (been years) so yeah kinda disapointing for a newcomer to css 1.6. And i aint gona go read some site etc to know how to play, it should be told in a tutorial or somit or be so simple u dont need explanations like mohaa. Sry but css to me seems like its a bit too of a rush game and too much messing about like with the buy system. I prefer my mohaa mp to css type.

Was my FPS of choice before BF2, Personally I think it's so popular because of how well it plays on so many different systems.
On top of that the gameplay is simple, Spawn & go kill each other, rince & repeat.
Personally I just loved going on a rampage with the two pistols. :cool:
