What is the best C&C game?

Been playing C&C: Red Alert 1 recently I think it was the first proper game I played. Been getting annoyed with the little faults in it like if you have a big group of tanks and tell them to go over a bridge you can guarantee some will go round it straight through the enemy base. Things like that didn't seem to annoy me so much 12 years ago.

I played Generals for a few years online. Played a few others from the series

Which one do you think is the best avoiding the use of nostalgia?

The first C&C was the best. Awesome game at the time with those "I cant wait for the next cut scene" moments. Almost ground braking had it not been for Dune 2. Red Alert 2 was very good, the new Red Alert looks awful to me. I dont like the cartoon graphics.

Red Alert 1 > TibSun > all others.

I don't understand why people heap so much praise on RA2, though each to his own I suppose.

i'd still stay the first one (red alert a close second), its nice and simple, plus other game they've never really nailed the coolness of the units and buildings (orcas, m1a1's, flame tanks, the commando, obelisk of light, temple of nod etc) and the cheesy story telling between gdi and nod (c&c3 came close on that front though)

Don't make me choose!! The first four games with expansions have always been awesome fun. Whilst never truely supassing the last they always bring more good things to the table.

RA2 : Yuri's Revenge Best C&C ever made to this date.

Closely followed by Generals (not Zero 'unbalanced and overcomplicated' Hour)

The original was far and away the best of the C&C series. Kinda wish they would re-make it as it would be spectacular with todays graphics. It on the N64 was good.

Although C&C was the best, Red Alert was the first with AI so is the best in that respect. The other games were good but I didn't like the more recent ones. I thought Tib Sun was pretty good.
