What is the best C&C game?

The original, then Red Alert 1. Them two by some margin. Then Tib Sun, then Generals and Zero Hour. Never got on with Red Alert 2. I mean, I played it loads but it just looked ridiculous.

Red Alert 1

Fond memories include the underground missions which i found quite hard, and using the allies cruiser which was so innacurate you had to force fire the ground in front of the target to actually hit it!

Time wise though I spent far more time on Generals due to online play, despite what others thing I thought it was good. Looking forward to Red Alert 3.

I spent weeks on one of those.

There's a mission where you have to stop a bunch of nukes which launch at the end of the level followed by an underground mission where you have to get to the control centre and stop them. I had seven minutes to do it in and found it impossible. I then learned that you get an hour countdown on the above ground map and whatever is left over underground once you infiltrate the base.:o So I replayed it, rushing the above ground bit to give me more time.

Same here. Still the best game ever made on the PC IMO. Nothing comes close to the fun you can have on skirmish mode.

Bring back the original Westwood I say! :D

C&C - Tiberuim Dawn was fantastic. Probably made better by the fact it was my first proper game on the PC. The music and graphics blew me away. Somewhere on my home PC is a link to the guy who made all the music for the C&C series, Frank Klepacki.

Thanks to Wiki, http://www.frankklepacki.com/

Oh and when EA took over Westwood, many of the employees left to form Petroglyph Games.

i remember being 12ish when i first saw C&C1 on my neighbours computer to which my dad bought it and we both played it constantly on our old pentium 1 i think it was.

been hooked to each one ever since.

The Original = C&C is just a must play at some point. was also super hard once you sent a orca in and realised there was a sam site you hadn't spotted and couldn't re-select them LOL. (Med tank spam ***)

Game Play = RA2

Graphics = C&C3

The original C&C for campaign mode. RA2 for multiplayer - Skip on Yuri's Revenge though, as Yuri is way overpowered.

The NOD artillery was great. They were really slow and had no armour, but if you managed to sneak a load close to the enemy base and they let rip, nothing would survive :p

does anyone know how to fix the uber fast scroll on RA1 when playing on today's computers?

I've tried putting it on the lowest scroll speed and put the value to '7' in the config but still whenever i move the mouse to the edge of my screen to scroll up a bit it flies at 40000mph to the other end of the map. It is basically unplayable because i cant scroll to my own base or to tank battles as I go straight past them...

The problem with C&C was the AI was incredibly dumb: you could sandbag their bases shut and the units made no attempt to destroy them. Not to mention being able to deploy base buildings anywhere using sandbag creep made it even easier.

Red Alert was good fun and the cutscenes rocked (apart from the dodgy acting in some of the Soviet ones). Still had some annoying AI issues, and it was best when playing against a human opponent.

red alert 2 with yuri's revenge add-on

Followed by

RA2 vanilla.

Followed by

Original RA

Followed by C&C3 with Kayne expansion

Tib sun is just too old for me to get in to, same with the original c&c, I only love RA the original because I played it in my childhood, I didn't play tib sun or C&C though. Not being able to que up mroe than one or even 5 units annoys me way too much though :(.

I just like to ( in C&C3 ) play 1vs1 on an 8p map and make massive armies & battles ( yes I play supcom too, before anyone recommends that to me lol).

One of my fondest memories of pc gaming is discovering C&C1 was like Dune 2 from a mag, and playing right through it.
My favourite part is the mission addon Hells Fury. Closest thing to a hardcore skirmish on that game, that was an epic mission.
