Was looking at buying something recently which retails for around £1500. Went on to today and there was a chap on the amazon marketplace selling one out of box but with a full warranty (claims he is a shop) for £500?

I've snapped it up and have read up on Amazon's A-Z guarantee, but still feel its too good to be true.

Anything I'm missing or are bargains still to be had? Still time to cancel now if there is anything suspect!

Could it be a used, open box, or a customer return?

What is the item and what makes you concerned?

I guess if you are covered under their A-Z returns, don't worry until you receive the item.

These are usually scams - I think you're refunded and asked to pay again via a means outside of Amazon, then you don't receive your item and Amazon can't refund you because they already have refunded the initial payment.

There's a load of dodgy electrical items being sold by sellers with little to no feedback way under market value.

You spent £500 on something that is retailing brand new at 1/3 the price of what everyone else is selling it for? Seriously?

ah-ha interesting, so OP if you get refunded with request, do let us know, and indeed, do let amazon know.

and indeed if you receive counterfeit goods, would be interesting to contact amazon, say what you have received and ask them should you contact trading standards, or do they want to ;)
I'd be expecting replacement item, rather than refund in that situation, fulfilled by amazon directly.

Item is an electrical good, not sure how it can be faked..

The item is described as open boxed box but with full warranty. Seems to have a lot of feedback (from what I can see).

Might have a chit chat with amazon to make sure they see it as being kosher? Guess they hold onto the money for a while?

By making an electrical good that looks simmilar but is much lower spec.

Theres fake iphones and everything available.

For say a TV the original could be a high quality 4k IPS pannel the fake a 1080p TN panel

So basically don't be silly and you'll be fine and not get scammed.

It annoys me that people would actually consider paying outside of Amazon.
