What is this evil?

Curiousity got the better of me after I read up on the brown recluse spider and I wanted to know what the most dangerous spider in the world is. According to Wikipedia it is the Brazilian Wandering Spider, and has actually been found in banana boxes in this country, so just be glad that isn't what you found!

One of the guys at work wife got bitten by a spider in sainsbury's not sure what sort it was but jumped out of the banannas and got her.. was taken to hospital convulsing.. they had to evacuate the shop and get the bug people in to spray everything..

Awful, was she ok ?
Do they not check the fruits when they come into the country ? :(

I've not slept a wink these past few nights since seeing the picture of that wolf spider with egg sac. I'm convinced something just as horrible is going to crawl through my window during the night.

That's good to know :D But scary thinking about what could slip through~

I found two spiders in boxes of bananas while I was working at Waitrose, that was in a four year period of working twice a week though so it is very rare. And they weren't even dangerous spiders, would have to be seriously unlucky to come across something really dangerous.

Edit: to make you feel better IC1..... humans eat on average about 10-14 insects a year while sleeping, you just don't know about it, so you may eat a spider or two and it be unavoidable. Sleep well :D

I think this is a myth tbh. Spider crawls on my face while sleeping - Im pretty sure the last thing going through my subconcious is "omg omnomnom!"

How does that look like the Common Orb Weaver ?

And it looks a lot bigger than the stated 8mm (unless the pic/photo is very good at masking the proportional size - it just looks a lot bigger to me)

How big would you say the leg span was ?

I've been told on another forum that it is likely this.

I'm trying to find the original photo I took of it, so I can work out the size. I took it a few days ago, I do think it was bigger than 8mm, more like a couple of cm and maybe a 2" span.

Is that from somewhere?

Motors.

I found one when working at Lidl, the spider turned out to be a pretty much harmless one though, only dangerous if you had really bad heart problems etc. and then you'd just have a couple of days in hospital. I found it about 5 minutes after my manager was telling me about deadly spiders you get in the Banana boxes...I found it, it ran across the floor...I stood on it...no more spider. Was quite big and scared the life out of me (not a fan of sipders at all). :D

If i saw that and couldn't find it i would seriously move out

I'd likely trap it in a pint glass and throw it outside, or if it's on the ceiling, get the hoover out and make it vanish. :D

brown recluse, DO NOT GO NEAR IT. KILL IT. its bite causes necrosis of the area up to 30 times larger than the puncture wound, often leading to long term skin damage requireing grafts and on occasion, death.

I presume your not in the UK, if you are, that sure as hell should not be in your kitchen :/

sure does look like that

Brown Recluse -looking at the images on the web don't have those tangential large hairs/spikes

"I saw something that looked like a tomato stem, I thought it was, and I was going to reach in and grab it, but then I realized it was a spider and I threw the bag and walked away. And my mom checked, and she actually saw the hour-glass red on her belly, and that's when I kind of freaked out a little bit.", says Amanda Masotto of Leona Street in Sharpsville.

Masotto immediately got on the Internet to try and identify the arachnid while her mom put the spider in a jar.

QUICK!!! TOEZ THE INTERNETZ!!!.

OT: Whatever spider it is there's one guaranteed method of killing it:
