Time to boycott the Proms. Cancel culture works both ways.
I agree, but in principle I do not believe that any viewpoint should be cancelled or ignored. I'm kind of libertarian. Everyone should be free to express themselves and do their own thing (within the laws of the relevant district of course).Time to boycott the Proms. Cancel culture works both ways.
yes - seemed just part of the required BBC diversity output - the USA professor saying uk(empire) shared responsibility for the current usa situation, was a new angle,Airing Now: BBC News airing a special programme about how the Empire is keeping minorities suppressed.
I'm sure folks with regional accents, coming to the paved streets, had same issue.Like many young black people, Lucrece Grehoua is an expert in code-switching - used to changing her voice, accent and mannerisms when she enters white-majority spaces. But should she really have to? In this programme, Lucrece reveals the cost of hiding who we really are in the workplace and explores the mechanics of code-switching, a term first used to describe the experience of African-American students in the 1970s. She shares her own story of being taught to become “a palatable black girl with a soft voice and an unceasing smile”. And she talks to other young professionals about the steps they’ve taken to fit in – from switching to a “white voice” in the office to changing how they dress, what they talk about and how they style their hair. We also hear from those who, tired of code-switching, are daring to be themselves in the corporate world.

Danny Leigh, a former BFI curator, revisits the working class heroes of 1960s British cinema, going back to the original settings to ask what it means to be working class in 2018.
It's cancel culture, friend. You have been cancelled. EU supporters have tried to claim it in recent years, now BLM appear to have done the job.
Yes it was quite humorous seeing all the blue bonnets with their yellow stars singing Rule Britannia and waving their flags. It did not really come across as them genuinely having fun just being faintly ridiculous.Yeah, be careful what you wish for lol. Sweet irony.
Yes apparently it is reactionary stuff and they seem to be having fun.People watch the Proms?
also the narrative that wind-rush immigration was solely for the benefit of the uk re-building after war as opposed to being of mutual benefit and providing an enhanced lifestyle.
Sam Smith did, right?First white person to win a mobo award....
I'm surprised the Twitter idiots haven't had a go at Reggae/Ska bands with white band members/front men yet tbh.Same year as Mick Hucknall did too.
Edit:
So I browsed through and there have been LOADS over the years - It has only been controversial recently due to the allowance of vocal idiots caused by the biggest detriment to humanity in modern society, twitter.
Give them time and they'll get round to it. They need to hear about that form of music before deciding they've been a lifelong listener.I'm surprised the Twitter idiots haven't had a go at Reggae/Ska bands with white band members/front men yet tbh.
Is this new white privilege. ?
this is so disgusting it’s untrue. Who do these people think they are ?

Why?The BBC should really identify just who is paying the licence fee and I bet it is mostly the 40+ to 75 year old segment of the population. . . .
I know this is a few weeks old news, but does anyone else find this statue laughable? I mean it's brilliantly sculpted, clearly a very talented artist. But I mean, what he's sculpted. Really?
