what is wrong with your camera?

Canon 5D
- Print button
- No live view (not the end of the world tbh)
- No water sealing
- I don't get to use it as much as I'd like
- only 3fps

Other than that it's a joy to use and the things above aren't erally things I'd use much anyway.

5D:
- abit to slow for motorsports.
- no liveview
- no firewire

other than that, both great cameras

g9:
- too noisy at higher ISO
- Software for MAC doesnt really work, crashes often, does nothing
- doesnt work with Canon's DPP software

D80:

  • not enough buttons
  • no metering mode/ISO in viewfinder (the latter has a button but I don't want to devote an entire button to that when it's better-used for switching AF mode)
  • it's not a D3 in terms of high-ISO quality
  • it's not a D3 in terms of build quality (incl. weather sealing)
  • it's not full-size like the D3
  • it's not a D3

Nikon D80
-No mirror-lock up function (for shooting, not for cleaning).

I'm pretty sure mine has the ability to lock the mirror up before a shot is taken>? So there is a delay after pressing the shutter button.....Or am i going mad?

Love my D80, one custom function button does suck a little

That's not what mirror lock up is. Mirror lock up when shooting prevents the mirror slapping up as the shutter opens, and the accompanying potential camera-shake; you compose, flip up the mirror, then when you press the shutter the only vibrations come from the shutter opening and vibrations are thus as minimised as is physically possible (presuming use of a tripod).

I must be way of the mark then, I thought that the D80 locked up the mirror slight delay and then the shutter would fire....So reducing the vibration caused by the mirror?

Option 31 - Exp Delay Mode in the cusom settings menu states....

Select "On" to reduce camera shake due to mirror shock. Delays shutter release until about 0.4 seconds after the mirror is raised

Oh, when you said a delay after pressing the shutter release I thought you meant the timer. Still, that's not really true mirror lockup; you can't use it with the continuous drive mode, for example, which means if you want to compose and then take a series of shots you have the mirror slapping up and down continuously.

350D - too small even with the battery grip, LCD is also too small and the rubber bit covering the remote shutter release socket is a pain in the hole to get back into place properly.

I have never needed to use it when doing a series of shots. But usefull none the less. At least the feature is there....Just not as good as proper mirror lock up

Specify what your camera is, and what annoys you about it;

Another thing about the 5D.

The dioptre setting on the eyepiece. It needs a lock.

Can we moan about non-camera things too?

EF 15mm f/2.8 FE

Can't fit a protective filter (as usual for a fisheye)
AF motor. It doesn't make much noise but it seems nasty when all my other lenses are USM.

MP-E 65mm 1:2.8 1-5x

Tricky to use. Pretty close to useless at high magnification without tripod or flash.
Magnification possibly exceeds the resolving power of the lens.
Difraction limit (if you stop down too far, the image gets softer, not sharper)

EF100-400mm 4.5-5.6 L IS USM

Slide action. It is always either too firm to move or slides too easily.

MT-24EX.

Protrudes too far. When working at 5x, you need the flash pointed inwards. When you do this, the flash protrudes beyond the working distance!

Can't fit the flash bracket on my MP-E 65mm with a filter in place. The filter fits on the front of the flash bracket - but the flash bracket falls off to easily in the bag to be effective for lens protection.

Flash takes AA batteries. Why can't it take LiON, like the camera?

Manfrotto 405 geared head.

Can't lock it down.

Manfrotto 454 micropositioning sliding plate.

Too much play.

Can't fault the 85mm F1.2 :-)

Canon 400D

Too small. Battery grip should sort that out. But then I need a bag and new lenses... and filters... and a tripod... and a flash

A really kind member over at TP gave me some items which have helped me out so much. I owe him a case of beers when I can afford it.

400D

cant use a sync lead out of the box
too small
1.6x crop sensor
no 2nd LCD

After A Few Hours Of Carrying It's Too Heavy

Over Exposes Like **** ~ To Have Compensate Is SAD

Wish I'd Have Stayed With My D50 ~ Lack Of LCD Back Light Better Is Than Over Exposure.

D80..MMM After 12 Months, It's Ok & Only Ok. But I'm No Pro.

Just My 2 Peneth
