The one that stirs up all of those emotions, brings back all of those memories, makes you cry, or makes you happy or makes you just want to go utterly nuts? Just ONE track.

For me, it will always be this:


Mostly sad for me, with a big dose of childhood nostalgia. It reminds me of my grandma. One such memory was helping my granddad mow his lawn and sort his garden out a few months after she passed away to cancer, I was listening to this through my earphones and I just remember breaking down completely. What an incredible song from one of the world's absolute greatest songwriters.

A bit overly commercial in terms of dance music, but it has to be Livin' Joy's Dreamer! When I first heard it in 1994/5, I knew right away it would be my life time favourite song, even if it was a silly/teenage way of thinking. I was 16.

Aye. Cigarettes and alcohol gets a special mention as my second favourite. It always gets the pub rocking when I put it on the jukebox :D

Or possibly this Descendents track. A pop song at the end of a proper punk album, slightly shamefully, is my favourite :)
Side note; was my first ever Amazon purchase - possibly my first ever internet purchase.

Or maybe this. No shame on this one, it's ****ing great pop :D
And the lipstick lesbian thing came at a pretty decent time for late-teen me :p

To be honest, though, I'd probably give a different shortlist next month.
