What is your minimum FPS acceptence level?

Online games I like 50fps+, but single player I'm not fussed if they run at 25fps, just so long as they dont drop lower.

I've never been one to notice the difference between 50 and 60 fps.

You can get accustomed to so some frame rates over time & it makes it more noticeable, even more so when Vsynced & capped were you get used to a constant FPS.

Also the size of the screen changes how you see FPS.

GRID on the my X360 at 30fps on a 20" display with motion blur looked nearly as smooth as GRID on my PC at 60FPS on my 30" display.

Now that i have the X360 on a 50" GRID is barely playable at 30fps for me & i thought there was something wrong with the X360 settings.

The bigger the display the bigger the lateral movement thus the jump between frames are more noticeable. So how many fps a human can notice is dependant on many factors.

It took me a whole day to get accustomed to playing PGR4 at 30fps.

After playing Gears of War on the PC with the consistent 60+ fps, then playing it on the 360 at 30, i genuinely pulled a EURGH face, it just didnt sit right with me. Never had that problem with the countless hours i put into it before playing it on PC :p

Same here.
I was disappointed when i hooked up the X360 to the 50" with so many games running at 30FPS & lack of AA" Ignorance was bliss.
The PC will be getting hooked up to the 50".

it depends on the game for me, i can put up with 30 but in some games it has to be 60

i always stick all the settings to max when i first run a game (minus any aa options) and if i cant play it like that then i wont go near it again until i have a system that can run it

I do this. I generally don't play through games more than once so when I play them I like to have everything turned on and at least 4xAA. I don't mind waiting 6months or a year till I get the hardware to run it properly, the game isn't going anywhere....

Depends on the game, most console ports are designed to run at 30fps and feel ok but I prefer 60fps for source based games and racers.

I'm no FPS snob :p

If I'm enjoying a game then it's all good to me... take GTA4 - the FPS is rubbish on my PC, but the gameplay is so much fun I'm still playing it 6 months on.

Never really gave it much thought tbh, if a game feels a bit sluggish ill just play about with the settings till i find a nice compromise.

This thread reminded me of about 10 years ago me and a mate would link up two PS1's and two tv's and play Command and Conquer (Retaliation I think) and once we built bases and around 100 mammoth tanks we would attack. As soon as you gave that order, we got about 1 frame every 3 seconds! It was class once the order was given we would go do something else for half an hour before the tanks got to the other base haha.

These days I guess that would be considered unacceptable....

As for this thread, I have no idea about frame rates, I just play the game, if its a bit jerky i turn off some options....

I'm not obsessed with numbers unless I'm benchmarking/oc'ing my gpu or cpu.

Generally I go by sight so who knows what I'm happy with, obviously games like slow paced rts or rpgs it can be lower than a racing sim. I just adjust the settings if it starts looking a bit slow. As alluded to some posts back, over 60 fps is pointless anyway most of the time, if you have a 60hz screen.
