Thought i'd see what other peoples office machines were like in the IT sector, are you one above the rest at all times or the last to be upgraded, or simply in between?

Also what does work give you to take home? Decent laptop or a pile of junk?

You get the idea...

I'll start off:
As of next week - i7 2600, Asus P8P67 Deluxe, 16GB ram, 120gb Vertex 3 for OS and programs, 120GB intel 510 for storage, ATi 6770.
Monitors: 2 x Samsung P2450s
2nd machine for testing is an intel D510 atom all in one pc with 2GB ram.

Can't wait for next week :D (rare i actually look forward to work!!)

So, what are the rest of you running? No doubt some of you must be on some cracking hardware (being sat infront of a server rack doesn't count! :p)

Laptop
c2d 2.2ghz
4gb ram
320gb HDD
Win 7 Pro

does the job, my tasks arent heavy processor work just general network admin.

stays on the desk hooked upto dell 17" monitor, pushing for a 22" though.

My works lappy is an IBM T61, which I take every where with me.

In the office, I have 2 desktop machines which each have the following hardware

Intel i7 950
12GB Ram
300Gb Raptor
3x Nvidia Quadro NVS 450 cards
Win 7 Pro

Each desktop has 8x Dell 2210 monitors attached.

There are also 4x 40" Samsung LCD screens to use for what ever we like (PS3 and Xbox360 ) :D

My work machines depending where I am -

In the office

Aspire 5942g
I5 M520
4gb ddr3
600gb
5650 1gb

In my office at home (where the real work gets done)

x6 1090T
8gb ddr3
6tb raid array
5850
3x Samsung SM233SW monitors.

Awesome, what do you do? I'd love 8 monitors!

It's not bad...

HP EliteBook 8440p 15" nice and portable
i5 M20 2 core HT
4gb RAM
Win7 Pro

Docking station with a crap 17" monitor

Laptop

Elitebook 8440p
Core i7 620, 4GB, Windows 7 Pro x64

Desktop

C2D 6400, 4GB, Windows 7 Pro x64
2 x BenQ G2420HDB 24" Monitors

At the moment some dual core Athlon, 4gb ram, 2x 22" screens and a core2duo laptop with a 22" screen attached. Synergy running between the 4. Should be getting an i5 in the next few weeks.

HP 6710b Laptop
Mobile C2D T8300
2GB RAM
80GB 7200HDD

Nothing outstanding but compaired to the older junk we had these are much better for daily duties... I work in IT support

Work as a Photographer, old quad core HP workstation died, was given this beauty...

HP xw4300
Win XP 32bit
P4 3.6Ghz
3.5GB Ram

Some crappy HDD that rattles like its about to explode when I batch process images (25MB RAW files x56 at a time)

Worst thing is that all the newcomers get new 17" MBP's, I would be happy enough having my quad core back :(

I had a dell vostro 200 but since I didn't see myself getting any upgrades for it I built one out of my own spare parts.

Silverstone SG03
C2D E5300
2GB RAM
500GB HDD
8800GTS 640MB
x2 22" Dell monitors

I also use my own laptop(EEE 1000h) as someone else took the power adapter for mine and couldn't be arsed to replace it. I prefer this anyway as less weight is better when travelling.

Hp Compaq Core 2 Duo E5500 I think and 2gig of Ram, still on xp though and win 7 roll out might not happen this year :(
I'm on a service desk. Oh yeah 2x 19" Hp screens.
Pretty average pc for what's in the company.

My work PC is an Optiplex 745;

Pentium D 3GHz
2GB RAM
160GB HDD
Windows 7 Pro
1 x 20" 16:10 TFT & 1 x 19" 4:3 TFT.

It's pretty slow and frustrating to work on, to be honest. I could do with a system with a processor that supports VT, and a couple of matching 1920 x 1200 displays. Still, it could be worse I guess.

Old HP ultraslim thing with the machine attached to the back of the 17inch monitor.

Pentium 4 3.2 with 3 gig RAM.

Got 2 on my desk, one for day to day stuff, one for testing.

Then there's usually a T60, X60 or X61 laptop on my desk, with a couple more in my drawers, depending on what I'm working on at the time.

Don't really need anything fancy, got the servers for that :)

Asus P6t V2
i7 950
6gb ram
GTX 480
Intel 160gb SSD
Coolermaster 690 case

i work for a games developer.

Dell D630 laptop :(

Dell Optiplex 960

Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.00Ghz
3GB ram
2x 250gb hdd in Raid 1
nVidia GeForce 9300 GE
Windows XP Pro 32bit

1x 19" 4:3 display 1280x1024 and 1x 17" 4:3 1280x1024

Not a bad system installing Windows 7 64bit in a vm for some testing. Handy as IT support to have the lastest OS on your own machine.
