Advanced GNVQ I.T.
Masters Degree in Computing & Internet Systems
You listed a "gee, not very qualified" above a master's degree?lol.
I'm the proud holder of a Comptia A+ which I got when I was 15. I think 8 years on it's probably lapsed.
I'm now a director and, dealing with people who have these certifications (MCSE/A, CCNA, CCNP, etc) on a daily basis, I can assure you they count for very little. Some of the questions we've been asked by so-called 'professionals' would have you all in fits of laughter!
When I'm hiring I look for (in this order)
- Experience
- Intelligence
- Genuine passion for IT
- Personal skills + ability to work in a team
- Qualifications (although a good degree helps prove point #2)
Obviously larger companies may take a different view but I thought it was worthwhile to offer you mine.
Yes, I think this guys post answers why a genuine enjoyment and 'innate' ability + years of experience is better than a masters:
I was referring to putting a gnvq above a masters, not the experience that you mentioned... That went straight over your head, didn't it?![]()
