What male greetings/acknowledgements for young female acquaintances/random persons?

Hmm ok then. I still don't understand what the problem is though, really.

I'm guessing maybe you are of the older generation? If yes, then maybe it's just a teenager/young person thing?

So if you held a door open for someone and they said "Oh cheers mate", would you scowl at them because you hate it so much?

I'm obviously not down with the kids anymore but House of Lords? I've never heard of anyone calling someone that, what does that mean?

haha, I've never really been called it. Some guy in a band I like is known as the 'House Of Lords', thought it was cool :D

Strangers calling me babe, or darlin' or flower or petal or love etc makes my skin crawl. Im generally only familiar with people I know, then blokes tend to be called fella and girls, honey or sweetie or bebeh or...I dunno. Only one person calls me babe without me getting narky, but he's allowed. :D

i find just "hey how r u" seems sufficient for me for when i see my female friends never used hey mate with a female friend that is just for male friends doesnt seem right by using hey mate to greet a female friend but i cant work out why weird. with my female friend its just "hey how r u" with male friends "hey mate, how r u" its like a reflex i guess.

Something I have never really considered, but I work with Women on a daily basis.. and kids too.. but with the lasses I work with I normally call them mate as its what they call me (Well that and Samuel - They only say that as they know it racks me off lol)

Im the same with the kids... ill call the boys mate or matey.. and with the girls its sweetheart or babe lol but thats just the farmiliarity I have with the older kids I work with..I wouldnt dare say that to the managers lol.

But mate works for me in most cases...
