What "man jobs" have you done today?

Started to trim the door bottoms where we have recently had new carpet / flooring put down

There's five need doing, whipped the first one off and took about 5/6mm off

That was our bedroom door, which would only close about 1/2 way - all good now

Then the ensuite - tried a different method with this one

Nice slice later

Like a glove !

The other three (spare bedroom, study and lounge) are all off the hallway, where while I was doing the ensuite door, the Mrs decided to move some furniture she's 'up cycling' and varnished them so no dust allowed and can't get the doors off, round them and out the door so they'll have to be done another day ....

@{SAS}TB , they are the same doors we have been looking at getting, including the glass type for the living room to let some light in. The other half isn't quite convinced on the wood with white skirting and frame though but I think it'll be great.

Thanks @Mysterae_ we did a lot of searching and debating when we had some work done last year which included new and replacing all the existing doors throughout

We went, generally, with these (as seemingly have a few on here):

The door about we have only used into out ensuite then used these into the kitchen and utility room:

We also ummed and ahhed about the white skirting and architrave and whether to go for an oak / timber but thought it may just be too much especially as we wanted the flooring you can see above in some rooms and we have stripped / stained floorboards in the lounge

The door you are looking at is really nice and does let a lot of natural light in. It is "unfinished" as it hasn't been oiled or stained - not convinced yet whether we will or leave as is.

We have the above doors with white skirting and architrave. We didn’t do wood skirting etc as that would have just been a bit much.

My wife wasn’t sure about going oak on the doors over white and had the same internal debate because we have 6 doors coming off the landing and she thought it would be a bit much but I’m glad I stuck to my guns on this one and it looks great. Well worth the amount of swearing to took to retrofit 10 of them into existing frames!

How did you finish yours? We went satin osmo oil on ours.

All but the door I to the ensuite are pre-finished

I have the oil we did the staircase in but may be a little dark and also have some osmo oil to do the cedar cladding on the dormers to the loft conversion if I decide to finish that door :)

That looks so nice, I'll show her your pictures @{SAS}TB (thanks and nice cat!) and the words from others and I'm sure she'll be convinced :D. Every door needs replaced (terrible previous owner) so it's not going to be cheap or soon, but it's definitely on the list.

Ha ha thanks she's the old lady of the bunch (20 years old!) And good luck :D

Spent yesterday routing Cat 6a in the rooms. Now to get an electrician to get me some sockets in the loft :D. Hoping I can get someone before Christmas

Re-roofed the shed. It's a rental house so I didn't really want to spend money on something that isn't mine, but it has a few of our things in it and the roofing was falling to pieces before.

Debating whether or not to replace the trim or just leave it as is, the previous trim crumbled into my hands when I removed it.

@R-evans - nice job, for what it will take I'd replace the eaves trim. Will not only give a beer looking finish but will help keep the felt in place and with the overall water-tightness :)

After being quoted 80 to 120 quid to fit a Nest thermostat, I decided to fit it myself. Disconnected old timer/stat at the boiler and ran new wiring through a couple of walls.

Do you know that all poultry needs to be kept indoors at the moment to combat bird flu? I think that includes domestic chickens.

Got a few little jobs done this weekend. Replaced a dead spotlight in the bathroom, a faulty socket in the kitchen and fitted an extractor grille in the ensuite. The spotlight was by far the trickiest job as the damn thing was proper seized up.
